Job Summary

Norfolk Public SchoolsNorfolk Massachusetts Substitute Custodian Job Description: To provide students teachers and staff with a safe and clean environment in which to educate and learn. This is a Monday through Friday on-call night substitute custodian position to help the Facilities Department fill gaps in our school custodial schedule. Specific duties include:Cleaning of School Building Areas including: Classrooms bathrooms hallways stairwells office spaces common areas gymnasium cafeteria and Duties include:Sweeping vacuuming and mopping of classroom floors and hallwaysCleaning and sanitizing of classrooms touch surfacesCleaning and sanitizing of bathroom fixtures walls partitions and floorsRestocking of all bathroom dispensersCleaning of glass surfaces in assigned areasDusting of furniture window sills and light fixtures as neededEmpty and disposal of all trash and recycling in assigned areasMaintain an organized and fully stocked supply room report any inventory needs to the Head Custodian or other custodial Custodial staff with any event setup or breakdown that occurs during assigned and secures building throughout shiftTurn off all classroom lighting as rooms are completedEnsure all doors and windows are secure and lockedPromptly report any damage to school property to the Director and Head CustodianPerforms all other tasks as assigned by the Director or Head and Qualifications:Knowledge and ability to operate custodial equipment including: floor machines floor brushes burnishing machines vacuum cleaners mops etc. Knowledge of proper handling of cleaning products and to lift over 40 pounds. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English. Education and Experience:High School or Trade School DiplomaDemonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilitiesSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate and acceptable. Evaluation:The Facilities Director and/or the Building Principal will evaluate performance of this position semi- annually. Salary: $20.00/hour
