Job Summary

Koniag Data Solutions LLC a Koniag Government Services company is seeking a Data Architect to support KDS and our government customer at the Pentagon Arlington VA. This position requires expertise in data architecture principles federal data standards and business intelligence Responsibilities:Data Architecture and Design:Design and develop conceptual logical and physical data models that support EPMS requirements and align with enterprise architecture standardsCreate and maintain data dictionaries documenting data elements attributes relationships and business rulesDevelop database schemas table structures stored procedures and views to support application functionality and reporting requirementsDesign data integration solutions that consolidate information from multiple source systems into the EPMS data warehouseEnsure data architecture designs support scalability performance and data quality requirementsData Modeling and Database Development:Utilize data modeling tools such as Erwin Data Modeler to create and maintain enterprise data modelsDesign and optimize SQL Server database structures to support high-performance queries and reportingDevelop and document data lineage traceability and metadata management processesCreate normalized and dimensional data models appropriate for transactional and analytical workloadsDesign and implement slowly changing dimension strategies for historical data trackingBusiness Intelligence and Analytics Support:Design data structures that support Tableau Power BI and other business intelligence toolsOptimize database designs for dashboard performance and real-time analyticsWork with developers to integrate Tableau Server and Power BI reporting capabilities into the EPMS DashboardSupport metrics processing and data analytics using DoD Advana platformDevelop data marts and analytical databases that support executive decision-makingData Governance and Standards:Establish and enforce data standards naming conventions and best practices across the EPMS environmentCollaborate with stakeholders to define data ownership stewardship and governance policiesEnsure compliance with federal data standards and DoD data architecture frameworksDocument data quality rules and validation requirementsSupport data classification and protection requirements according to security policiesSystem Integration and ETL:Design Extract Transform and Load (ETL) processes for data integration from source systemsDevelop data mapping specifications between source systems and target data warehouse structuresCoordinate with application developers to ensure data architecture supports system functionalityDesign and implement data validation and quality checking processesSupport daily data load file processing and troubleshootingDocumentation and Communication:Produce comprehensive technical documentation for data architecture database designs and data flowsCreate data architecture diagrams and documentation for production implementationCommunicate data architecture concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholdersProvide guidance to development teams on data access patterns and optimization techniquesSupport change management through clear documentation of data structure modificationsSecurity and Compliance:Design data security controls including role-based access data encryption and audit loggingEnsure data architecture complies with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)Implement data protection measures for sensitive and classified informationSupport CAC authentication integration for secure data accessMaintain compliance with federal data privacy and protection requirementsPerformance Optimization:Analyze database performance and recommend optimization strategiesDesign and implement indexing strategies for improved query performancePerform comparative analysis across development test and production database environmentsIdentify and resolve data-related performance bottlenecksMonitor database growth and plan for capacity requirementsRequired Qualifications:Education and Experience:Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Data Science or related fieldMinimum 5-10 years of experience in data architecture and database designExperience supporting federal government clients and understanding of federal data requirementsDemonstrated experience with enterprise data warehouse design and implementationTechnical Skills:Expert-level proficiency with SQL Server database design development and administrationStrong experience with data modeling tools (Erwin Data Modeler or similar)Proficiency with SQL development including complex queries stored procedures and performance optimizationExperience with business intelligence tools including Tableau and Power BIKnowledge of ETL tools and data integration patternsFamiliarity with Oracle SQL Developer or similar database management toolsUnderstanding of dimensional modeling and data warehouse design principlesExperience with Python for data processing and automationFederal Architecture Knowledge:Knowledge of Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF) data architecture principlesUnderstanding of DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) data models (DIV-1 DIV-2)Familiarity with federal data standards and reference modelsKnowledge of Evidence Act requirements for federal data managementSecurity and Compliance:Understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) as they apply to databasesKnowledge of federal information security requirements and data protection standardsExperience implementing role-based access controls and data security measuresAbility to obtain and maintain required security clearanceSoft Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to translate business requirements into technical data architecture solutionsExperience working independently and as part of a collaborative teamStrong attention to detail and commitment to data qualityAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:Active Secret clearanceExperience with SharePoint data architecture and integrationKnowledge of DoD Advana platform for data analyticsExperience with Dev Express or similar application framework data integrationCertification in data management (CDMP) or database administrationExperience with agile development methodologiesKnowledge of Master Data Management principles and practicesExperience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure SQL Database AWS RDS)Work Environment:This position requires 3 days weekly on-site presence at WHS facilitiesRemote work only available 2
