Main Purpose of Job
This is a supervisory level position in the food service operations of the Columbia Campus of the Maryland School for the Deaf.
POSITION DUTIES
This position is responsible for the production and service ofnutritious meals in accordance with prescribed procedures and applicable healthand sanitation regulations and standards; supervises food service staff;oversees store room operations supervises proper closing procedures andsecures department after dinner hours; monitors production records and dailystudent rosters; participates in scheduled meetings and in-service trainings;and performs other related duties as required by the food serviceadministrator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in foodproduction or service for a large- scale food service operation on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute additional education in the area of food service management nutritional care institutional administration or a related area on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Culinary classifications or Food Service specialty codes in the FoodPreparation and Serving field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be willing tolearn American Sign Language.
Must be able to lift 50lbs. and stand on feet for extended periods of time.
Must be willing tobecome Serve Safe Certified.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
New hires are subjectto a criminal background investigation at their own expense. (MarylandCode Family Law Article 1 Sections)

Candidates must be willingto become Serve Safe Certified.
