The Principal serves as the educational leader of the school administering all facets of its instructional program including the co-curricular activities; hires and supervises all certified and non-certified staff assigned to the facility; establishes expectations for student learning performance conduct and attendance; and manages the operational aspects of the building including budget TYPE: Full-Time year-round (2-year contract)PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Implements federal and state laws administrative regulations and school committee policies as they apply to the schoolSupervises the delivery of instruction to students ensuring that teachers focus on and manage the implementation of the district curriculum and the Massachusetts curriculum frameworks to meet student needs and requirements including both core programming and interventions Supervises and evaluates certified and non-certified personnel assigned to the school per the Massachusetts educator evaluation system Demonstrates fiduciary responsibility through effective development and management of the budget and school activity fundsEffectively manages an efficient office and record-keeping systemEncourages and facilitates faculty and staff professional growthFosters positive student parent and staff relationshipsEncourages positive public relations within and outside the schoolHires and recommends highly qualified staff members through the use of district hiring protocolsExercises leadership necessary to make the school facility a safe attractive and productive place in which to learn and workDevelops and oversees a fair and consistent system for student disciplineAttends school committee meetings as requiredMaintains currency in education practices and invests in ones own professional developmentAdheres to the standards of the schools accrediting agenciesPerforms other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or her designeeABILITY TO:Manage the proper and efficient use and conservation of all assets and resources assigned to the schoolMaintain open lines of communication with the superintendent and pertinent district office administrators regarding school-based issuesDemonstrate effective command of written and oral languageIntegrate grants in support of advancing academic civic social/emotional and/or behavioral learningUtilize a collaborative leadership styleKNOWLEDGE OF:District policies rules and regulations applicable to the school district and the school siteState and federal laws relating to contract management methods and procedures of educator supervision and evaluation and student supervisionCurrent education theories and practicesQUALIFICATIONS:Professional verification of leadership experience in public school education including at least five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher at the applicable levelEvidence of ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily; the requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability requiredEDUCATION:Masters Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in educational administration or a related fieldValid Massachusetts Department of Education Administrators Certificate with applicable level endorsementsPHYSICAL DEMANDS:The employee must be able to remain stationary for extended periods and occasionally move throughout the school building as needed. Regular use of hands for typing handling objects and operating tools is required along with sufficient grip strength for various tasks. The role involves frequent use of a computer and standard office equipment such as a calculator copier and printer. The employee must be able to enter data read from screens and review handwritten or printed materials with or without visual aids. Clear and effective communication with students parents/caregivers and colleaguesboth in person and over the phoneis essential. Strong visual and auditory awareness is necessary to ensure student safety and provide meaningful ENVIRONMENT:The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise. The employee interacts with students parents/caregivers and other staff members. The employee is directly responsible for the safety well-being and work output of students. While the majority of the workday is spent inside the employee must spend time outdoors for fire drills and/or special activities.
