Position Description
The City of Walnut Creek is seeking to fill up to two (2) full-time General Maintenance Worker positions in the Public Works Maintenance Operations Division. TheCitywill fill these openings at either a General Maintenance or Street Maintenance level depending on the needs of the department and the qualifications and experience of the candidate(s)selected.
The City is advertising two (2) separate recruitments in order to fill these openings. Candidates applying to this job opportunity will be considered for General Maintenance Worker. Candidates who are interested in both the General Maintenance Worker and Street Maintenance Worker opportunities are able to apply to both recruitments separately if their work experience meets the requirements listed in the Qualification Guidelines section of the respective announcement.
Salary
The current salary range for a General Maintenance Worker is $69914 to $84253 annually. Placement in the position and range will depend on qualifications.

About the position
General Maintenance Workers at the City of Walnut Creek may be regularly assigned to a specificdivisionorrotated among work assignments as department needs dictate. When employees are rotated proper training is provided tofacilitatework assignment changes.TheGeneralMaintenance Workerin the Streets Divisionis on a team consisting of three crews:Paving Concrete and Clean Water.
General Maintenance Workers on the Streets team perform various tasks in the maintenance and repair of City streets sidewalks curb and gutter and storm drains; and perform related work as required. Additionally newly hired incumbents will be provided with on-the-job training to obtain their Class A Drivers license.
This position requires significant physical effort including heavy lifting and involves working outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to hazards involved with working around traffic and heavy equipment.

Qualifications Guidelines
Education
Graduation from high school
Experience
A minimum of one year of experience in the maintenance and repair of streets sidewalks curb and gutter; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities required to perform the duties associated with this position.

Special Requirements
- Possession of or ability to obtain prior to employment a valid Class C California Drivers License and a good driving record is required.
- Employees are required to perform after-hours emergency work callouts and weekend work as needed
