The High School Extension Program is a small alternative learning community that is part of the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. Located at 359 Broadway our small off-campus space allows students a quiet and comfortable environment focused on cultivating the whole student. HSEP focuses on preparing students for success after high school by instilling in each student the values of Community Accountability Respect Excellence and Studentship.
The Opportunity:
The High School Extension Program seeks an extended term substitute Mathematics Teacher. The successful candidate will be flexible and innovative and will be able to differentiate their approach to a wide range of learning styles. Having experience in planning implementing and adapting curriculum based on the students needs. They will create a positive environment for student learning and engagement and ensure opportunities for students to be problem-solvers through creativity and critical thinking. Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching up to 3 courses in their subject area that are standards-based rigorous and aligned to the curriculum frameworks
- Willingness to teach interdisciplinary project-based courses that expose students to authentic learning opportunities
- Preparing students for successful completion of the MCAS
- Be responsible for mentoring students understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction materials or assessments when appropriate
- Be responsible for effective classroom management strategies
- Be responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning including implementing specific strategies for students with special needs with 504 plans andor second language learners.
- Work collaboratively with HSEP teachers guidance staff and administration at HSEP & CRLS.
- Meet professional obligations with respect to punctuality attendance and routine duties.
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Math Teacher you will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree required; Masters Degree preferred
- Certification as an ELA Teacher (9-12) in Massachusetts
- Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with a diverse population of students
- Successful experience working with and collaborating with colleagues caregivers and other service providers
