JOB GOAL: To maintain the physical school properties in a condition of operating excellence so that the full educational and community use of them can be made at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess Journeyman Plumbing license and familiarity with State Plumbing and Gas Codes;
- Skilled in operation maintenance and repair of industrial and domestic boilers and burners related to heating and hot water systems up to 700000 BTU;
- Working knowledge of heating ventilating and air conditioning systems;
- Ability to read and comprehend building plans as related to plumbing and heating specifications; layout projects for repair replacement or testing;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimum supervision;
- Ability to perform indoor and outdoor tasks under adverse conditions;
- Ability to maintain flexibility in a fast-paced work environment;
- Possess Massachusetts drivers license and safe driving record;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities and Deputy Director of Facilities
SUPERVISES: May require supervision of a laborer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for overseeing operation of heating and hot water boilers and making minor repairs and adjustments to keep them in good operating condition.
- Responsible for repair and/or replacement of all school plumbing fixtures and water filters as necessary for all water closets urinals sinks showers faucets bottle fillers and bubblers.
- Responsible for the application of plumbing permits when required and communicates with the inspector(s) for proper inspection.
- Works with the Deputy Director of Facilities to develop a preventative maintenance schedule.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance to assure the maximum efficiency and functioning of all plumbing and heating systems across the District.
- Maintains an organized shop with inventory of plumbing stock and requisitions necessary parts and supplies.
- Oversees operation and maintenance of septic systems and keeping a log of maintenance and repairs.
- Maintains log of backflow prevention device inspections and makes repairs as necessary or notifies the Director or Deputy Director the work requires an outside vendor.
- Makes minor repairs to kitchen equipment steam kettles dish machines etc.
- Is courteous at all times to other staff students and the general public.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities in keeping with the scope of his/her job as assigned by the Director or Deputy Director of Facilities.
SALARY: Per AFSCME Contract and work experience
