The Department of Classics at St. Olaf College invites applications for a full-time one-year position in Classics at the level of Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor to begin August 2026.
We seek a dynamic teacher/scholar who will welcome the opportunity to work closely with students participate wholeheartedly in departmental and college activities and advance the Departments work in making Classics a compelling and welcoming field of study for todays undergraduates. Demonstrated strong teaching skills and scholarly promise are required. The successful candidate will specialize in Latin language or Roman culture and will be prepared to offer Latin courses from the beginning to advanced levels as well as courses in translation such as The World of the Ancient Romans Greek and Roman Myth and an upper-level seminar for majors on a topic of the candidates choosing. The teaching load is six courses e.g. three courses in the fall one course during January term and two courses in the spring.
Salary: $60000 - $65000
Qualifications
Ph.D. by the time of appointment and teaching experience are required.
