Clinical & Surgical Instructor Shelter Medicine Humane Colorado
Humane Colorado is seeking an experienced Clinical & Surgical Instructor (DVM) Veterinarian to lead and grow our veterinary externship program while delivering high-quality medical and surgical care in a dynamic shelter and community medicine setting. This unique role combines high-volume surgery (HQHVSN) dentistry and advanced soft tissue procedures with hands-on teaching and mentorship of veterinary students.
The ideal candidate is a skilled diagnostician and confident surgeon with experience in shelter medicine incremental care and high-volume spay/neuter who is passionate about developing future veterinarians. This leader will cultivate a collaborative learning culture guide ethical decision-making aligned with Socially Conscious Sheltering and serve as a veterinary ambassador within the community.

Purpose of Position: Humane Colorados clinical and surgical instructor cultivates learning opportunities for externs in shelter and community medicine providing overall management and coordination of the program while serving as the primary instructor for shelter medicine and consulting with instructors for community medicine. This is also an adjunct faculty position with Colorado State Universitys College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Compensation: $129438.00 - $148854.00 annually (starting pay commensurate with market experience and equity)
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Handle and restrain animals of various sizes weights and temperaments. Subject to animal bites or scratches. Work performed in high noise level areas. Exposure to cleaning chemicals fumes dust animal dander and feces. Exposure to radiation in association with performing radiology procedures. Physical efforts require constant bending stooping standing climbing stairs and walking. Repetitive motion associated with medical and surgical care. Frequent lifting of animals and objects with reasonable accommodation.
