Description of Work

DNCR Human Resources is seeking a well-rounded Time Leave and Benefits Specialist to join our team! The primary purpose of this position is to provide support and serve as the Benefits Specialist for all employees within the Divisions of Archives and History Land and Water and Museum of Natural Sciences. The position provides support for permanent and temporary staff.

Key Responsibilities

Process all actions and associated documentation for temporary employees.
Process various actions and auditing time/leave entry in an HRIS and ensure accurate records for all employees.
Interpret time/leave policies and procedures and research and resolve time/leave issues.
Serve as the primary point of contact for Workers Comp administration and claim entry.
Manage service awards program by processing orders and confirm receipt of awards.

  • Demonstrated experience with SAP/HRIPS.
  • Demonstrated experience with temporary employee processing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR policies and/or procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with Smartsheet.

Position/Physical Requirements

  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 8-5 with flexibility 40 hours a week.
  • This position is deemed eligible for hybrid telework under DNCRs Telework Policy.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associates degree typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required

or

2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources

or

Equivalent combination or education and experience.

Division Description

The Human Resources Office (HR) provides comprehensive human resources and safety services to all divisions throughout the agency. Current staffing is over 2200 positions plus seasonal/supplemental staffing. The core services include policy administration employee relations staff development benefits classification and compensation recruitment and retention salary administration diversity and inclusion performance management safety and wellness. The HR office supports the mission of the agency by providing policy interpretation processes and staff development opportunities in all aspects of HR. The HR office strives to create efficient processes and services that utilize technology to enhance the processes and benefits available to employees as well as expand staff development.

Veterans and National Guard Preference

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.

Sign On Bonus Eligibility

Employee eligible for a sign-on must work at least 20 hours per week.
