General Purpose
This position is responsible for learning how parks and programming work with in a municipality. The intern will help manage the social media for North Beach Campground and the city Beaches. The intern will learn programming and budget management by setting up to 2 events at the campground while maintaining a budget set aside for that purpose. The intern will work alongside of the Campground and Beach Manager daily and assist where needed. Shifts may vary depending on needs. Basic shift will be 9am 5pm 5 days a week.
At the end of this internship the intern will:
- Be able to set up an event from idea to budgeting to running said event.
- Learn about budgeting as it pertains to a municipality.
- Gain experience in a park system looking at the park through the perspective of a manager not as a worker.
Union Affiliation: Non-Union
Pay Grade:$19.71 Hourly
Remote Tier 1:Zero (0) days remote/week.Essential Job Functions
- Ability to use social media
- Basic understanding of budgets
- Drivers license
- First Aid and CPR Certification required
- Must be a good communicator
- Must work well with others
- Must have good customer service skills
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

- Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
- Must be a Parks & Recreation Major
- Must be able to use a phone
- Must have a drivers license and must be able to pass a motor vehicle check
- Operation of a City vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct City business without providing proof of a valid drivers license to Human Resources will not be permitted. A valid drivers license shall be defined as a current state of residence-issued license to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways. Position also requires the ability to be covered under the Citys vehicle insurance policy prior to operation of any City vehicles or non-City vehicles for City business
- Critical thinking skills
- Must be first aid certified or able to become first aid certified before work begins.
