Job Summary

TITLE: Positive Behavior Specialist QUALIFICATIONS:

REPORTS TO: JOB GOALS:

Director of Special Services

To plan organize and implement individualized educational instruction in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties as may be assigned including but not limited to the following:

  1. Meets all professional conduct standards as set by MS Educator Code of Ethics Standards of Conduct
  2. Meets regular and predictable attendance requirements in accordance with the District
  3. Designs and assists in the implementation of behavior intervention plans based on the individual plan of a student with special services
  4. Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments
  5. Writes functional behavior assessment reports
  6. Ensure availability for support to schools and PBIS Team Meetings
  7. Participates in Region 8 meetings within the district as needed
  8. Assists with the maintenance of an educational atmosphere that is conducive to learning giving the students every opportunity to improve their cognitive capabilities
  9. Implements useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures that can help determine how students are improving in the area of behavior and social skills
  10. Selects and uses research-based behavior methodology and materials consistent with the students individualized educational plan functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plan
  11. Maintain open lines of communication with principals teachers pertinent staff and parents
  12. Participates in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job-related knowledge and skill development
  13. Provide support to genereal and special education teachers for behavior interventions
  14. Assist in Manifestation Determination Reviews
  15. Maintains a special education suspension data base
  16. Follows the District Instructional Management Plan including the Multi-Tiered System of Supports
  17. Works collaboratively with the Individualized Educational Team to develop each students IEP when behavior is involved and/or if necessary
  18. Writes reports for any behavior assessments conducted
  19. Meets legal expectations for due dates of special education submissions
  20. Participates in professional growth activities monitored through the MS Professional Growth System
  21. Reports on time to duty posts and performs duty responsibilities as assigned by school administration
  22. Follows all board policies and procedures
  23. Maintains regular attendance and is punctual
  24. Promotes the districts vision mission and goals
  25. Performs any other duties as outlined by the Director of Special Services

JOB EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel
