Principal Accountabilities:
- Provides daily oversight of all functional and operational activities in maintenance of aircraft and equipment in support of Government assets. Administers the operations of the maintenance departments per the CNAFINST 4790.2B CH-1.
- Defines and assigns responsibilities functions and operations per directives.
- Ensures full and effective employment of assigned personnel.
- Manages controls and executes activities with the development of plans under the operations contract to ensure fulfillment of the contractual obligations.
- Requires extensive technical knowledge of aircraft machinery facilities and equipment. Strong electrical hydraulic and mechanical aircraft knowledge including personal knowledge of computers.
- Requires extensive knowledge of the CNAFINST 4790.2B CH-1.
- Strong mechanical aptitude in order to offer technical direction in all maintenance areas.
- Knowledgeable of basic supply procedures.
- Implements policies practices and revisions to existing policies and practices as required to meet company contracts and order requirements. Recognizes and pursues changes in contract scope and/or workload requirements.
- Reviews and implements all mechanical specifications and manuals for current operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by upper management.
- Manages all activities of maintenance department staff. Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.
- Release aircraft safe for flight.
Experience & Education:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant technical discipline.
- At least ten (10) or more years of experience with at least five (5) years of management experience in direct aircraft maintenance repair inspection and modification.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
- May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
- May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
- May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts vehicles or aircraft.
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
- Must be able to climb stairs ramps ladders and work stands.
- Must be able to crouch crawl grasp or handle objects use finger dexterity bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to lift to 50 pounds.
- May be required to see aircraft in flight read dials/gauges and identify small objects and hand tools.
- Must be able to see imperfections micrometer readings and other small scales.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
- May be required to operate power vehicles machinery hand tools ground support equipment forklift APU etc.
