Our mission: to prevent and treat all forms of child abuse by creating changes in individuals families and society that strengthen relationships and promote healing. Position Summary
The Vice President of Fundraising and Philanthropy serves as a senior strategic leader and chief architect of CAPACares comprehensive development program. As a key member of the executive leadership team this position partners closely with the President and CEO and Board of Directors to design implement and grow a sustainable diversified philanthropic revenue strategy.
This role provides visionary leadership across all aspects of fundraisingincluding major gifts institutional giving corporate partnerships individual philanthropy events and donor stewardshipwhile building a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization. The Vice President leads relationship-centered fundraising efforts personally cultivates and solicits high-capacity donors and ensures exemplary stewardship practices that deepen engagement and long-term investment in CAPACares mission.
The Vice President is responsible for advancing transformational giving strategies strengthening donor retention increasing lifetime donor value and aligning philanthropic initiatives with CAPACares strategic growth priorities.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
Strategic Philanthropic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive multi-year development and donor stewardship strategy that increases annual revenue diversifies funding streams and builds long-term philanthropic sustainability.
- Serve as the organizations chief development strategist aligning fundraising initiatives with CAPACares strategic plan and growth objectives.
- Establish measurable fundraising goals across major gifts institutional giving corporate partnerships events and individual giving.
- Build and foster a culture of philanthropy internally engaging staff and board members as active ambassadors and fundraisers.
Major Gifts & Donor Stewardship
- Design and lead a robust major gift program including identification cultivation solicitation and stewardship of individual donors capable of giving $5000 annually.
- Develop individualized cultivation and engagement plans for high-capacity donors and prospects.
- Partner with the President & CEO to conduct donor visits solicit major gifts and secure leadership-level contributions.
- Oversee comprehensive donor stewardship strategies ensuring timely acknowledgment impact reporting recognition opportunities and meaningful engagement touchpoints.
- Increase donor retention upgrade rates and lifetime giving through strategic relationship management.
- Ensure consistent personalized communication that clearly articulates program impact and outcomes.
Institutional & Grant Development
- Lead and oversee the full lifecycle of institutional funding including identification proposal development submission compliance reporting and stewardship in conjunction with grant writing contractors or future staff grant writer.
- Maintain annual grant and contract revenue goals in the $2000000$range.
- Strengthen relationships with government agencies foundations and corporate funders through proactive engagement and strategic communication.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance and program leadership to ensure accurate reporting compliance and fund utilization.
Corporate Partnerships & Revenue Growth
- Develop and expand corporate giving and sponsorship strategies including event sponsorships employee engagement opportunities and mission-aligned partnerships.
- Identify and cultivate corporate prospects capable of multi-year or strategic investments.
- Lead planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and special events ensuring revenue targets between $150000$200000 while maximizing donor engagement and stewardship.
- Implement innovative revenue-generating strategies including campaign initiatives peer-to-peer fundraising and donor acquisition efforts.
Board Partnership & Engagement
- Serve as primary staff liaison to the Board Resource Development Committee.
- Equip and coach board members in donor cultivation solicitation strategies and stewardship best practices.
- Support board-led fundraising initiatives and assist in developing peer-to-peer fundraising capacity.
- Provide regular development dashboards and performance reports to the President & CEO and Board of Directors.
Development Operations & Data Strategy
- Oversee donor database integrity and optimization to ensure accurate tracking of contributions donor engagement and pipeline management.
- Utilize data analytics to inform fundraising strategy forecast revenue and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure ethical fundraising practices and donor confidentiality in accordance with AFP best practices.
- Supervise and mentor development and communications staff to support high-performance fundraising operations.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Nonprofit Management Business Administration Public Administration or related field.
- Minimum five years of professional development or fundraising experience in a nonprofit setting with demonstrated success required; eight years of experience preferred.
- Proven track record of securing and managing grants from government agencies foundations and corporations.
- Experience with donor cultivation and stewardship strategies including individual and major gifts.
- Strong written communication skills including grant writing donor correspondence and funder reports.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Donor Dock and/or other donor database platforms required; experience with Apricot or similar CRM tools preferred.
- Familiarity with and commitment to ethical fundraising practices and donor confidentiality.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally for funder and donor meetings.
Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: $101547 $110993 (based on experience)
- Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00 am 5:00 pm. Occasional evenings or weekends based on agency need.
