This position will focus on education and outreach within the community related to recently adopted and soon to be adopted sustainability and water conservation plans. This includes the Towns soon to be updated Sustainability Action Plan drafted Resilience Action Plan Beneficial Electrification Plan implementation Water Efficiency and Drought and Water Supply Shortage Plans and other related efforts.
Support event logistics and planning including the Towns Arbor & Earth Day annual event spring Clean Up Day Town Fair weekly Farmers Markets and others.
Support current Sustainability Division programming including rebate programs zero waste efforts and internal and external education and outreach.
Depending on intern interest other focus areas are possible and may be assigned as needed.
The Town of Erie is a municipality comprised of over 40000 people and is one of the quickest growing towns in Colorado. It is located between Denver and Boulder and offers great amenities and quality of life. The intern would be working with the Sustainability Division (along with collaborating with other departments) to advance the Towns sustainability efforts. The elected Town Council and Erie residents have continuously identified sustainability and water conservation as a high priority and have appropriated funds and resources to support the objectives.

This position will average 10-15 hours per week from April 2026 to August 2026 not exceeding 260 hours for the entirety of the internship.
