Job Summary

Are you an inspiring Music Teacher ready to lead shape and elevate a vibrant curriculum

Following an internal promotion we are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity for a Curriculum Leader for Musicto join our team at The Portsmouth Academy from September 2026. We will consider applications for 0.6 - 1.0 FTE and the ability to offer a second subject is desirable.

As Curriculum Leader for Music you will provide strategic leadership for the subject across Key Stages 3 and 4 shaping and delivering an engaging and inclusive curriculum that secures strong outcomes for all students. You will drive high standards of teaching and learning and assessment monitor pupil progress carefully and implement targeted intervention where needed.
At The Portsmouth Academy music is far more than a subject it is a thriving part of our community. Our students immerse themselves in musical exploration developing confidence and skill as performers composers and critical listeners. Learning happens in dynamic classroom lessons through onetoone tuition and within our school ensembles.
We are dedicated to offering students countless opportunities to showcase their talents both within the academy and across the wider community. From our Carol Service and Sound Bites to our annual school production music is woven into the fabric of academy life.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Plan implement and deliveran appropriately broad balanced relevant and differentiated curriculum for KS3 & KS4 students
  • Monitor and supportthe overall progress and development of students
  • Facilitate and encouragea learning experience that provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
  • Contribute to raising standardsof student progress and attainment
  • Integrate the Thinking Schools ethosinto all aspects of school life to develop students as thinkers enabling them to achieve success and be their best selves
