Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Product Development (PD) is seeking a Materials Technology Development Manager to lead a team responsible for execution of a portfolio of development and maturation projects.

This position will be leading and supporting a multi-skill team that develops and matures a range of materials for application to existing and future commercial airplanes. The team engages with a diverse pool of experts to understand and address technical opportunities and issues. The team is responsible for coordination of activities across the enterprise to develop and deliver high value solutions for current and future applications. A key objective is execution of projects in support of emerging production capabilities and systems. This position has some travel to integrate with customers suppliers and other organizations.

This particular Management position is for a standard 5-day 40-hour week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Materials Process & Physics (MP&P).
  • Develops and executes project and process plans implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers stakeholders peers partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches products and processes.
  • Manages develops and motivates employees.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in an engineering related role
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Airplane program experience
  • Technology development experience
  • Team leadership and/or management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to use teamwork across organizational boundaries to deliver products
  • Experience using project management tools including schedule and budget development and monitoring.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of work time (combination of local national and international)
