Special Education Co-Teacher Pool

Spring Independent School District has multiple openings for Special Education Co-Teacher positions in Houston TX. Please note this job posting is for multiple positions Special Education Co-Teachers may be assigned to any elementary campus within the school district (within the Houston MSA). Duties Include:

1. Implement instructional program.

• Utilizes knowledge of learning styles and modalities.
• Correlates IEP with regular education curriculum guides.
• Requisitions materials equipment and supplies needed for implementation.

1. Serve as a member of the ARD/IEP Committee.

• Administer criterion-referenced testing and recommends appropriate goals and objectives based on results.
• Participate in placement decisions based on educational sociological and physiological data presented to the committee.

1. Assist regular school personnel in providing an appropriate educational environment for students included in the general education classroom.

• Establish new objectives based on the findings of the appraisal team to be presented as recommendations to the ARD committee.
• Redesign curriculum to suit new objectives.
• Suggest and provide alternative teaching methods.
• Serve as a co-teacher or in class support for a specific subject area as appropriate.
• Assess the relation between student performance and disabling condition.
• Provide remedial or tutorial assistance to students.

1. Utilize the special education staff and coordinate input to meet the needs of each special education child.
2. Request and coordinate the available special services of the District as needed.
3. Establish frequent communication and cooperation with the students family to facilitate the environmental changes necessary to premeditate learning and/or behavioral changes.
4. Maintain confidential records of assigned students and complete end-of-year reports and other evaluations.
5. Fulfill the campus duties as assigned to other teachers subjects only to the program needs of the special education child.
6. Compile with the position description of the regular classroom teacher as applies to special education students in co-teach or in-class support situations.
7. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the principal.

Employer will accept a minimum of a Bachelors Degree or foreign equivalent in Education and a valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
