Spring Independent School District has multiple openings for Special Education Co-Teacher positions in Houston TX. Please note this job posting is for multiple positions Special Education Co-Teachers may be assigned to any elementary campus within the school district (within the Houston MSA). Duties Include:
- Implement instructional program.
- Utilizes knowledge of learning styles and modalities.
- Correlates IEP with regular education curriculum guides.
- Requisitions materials equipment and supplies needed for implementation.
- Serve as a member of the ARD/IEP Committee.
- Administer criterion-referenced testing and recommends appropriate goals and objectives based on results.
- Participate in placement decisions based on educational sociological and physiological data presented to the committee.
- Assist regular school personnel in providing an appropriate educational environment for students included in the general education classroom.
- Establish new objectives based on the findings of the appraisal team to be presented as recommendations to the ARD committee.
- Redesign curriculum to suit new objectives.
- Suggest and provide alternative teaching methods.
- Serve as a co-teacher or in class support for a specific subject area as appropriate.
- Assess the relation between student performance and disabling condition.
- Provide remedial or tutorial assistance to students.
- Utilize the special education staff and coordinate input to meet the needs of each special education child.
- Request and coordinate the available special services of the District as needed.
- Establish frequent communication and cooperation with the students family to facilitate the environmental changes necessary to premeditate learning and/or behavioral changes.
- Maintain confidential records of assigned students and complete end-of-year reports and other evaluations.
- Fulfill the campus duties as assigned to other teachers subjects only to the program needs of the special education child.
- Compile with the position description of the regular classroom teacher as applies to special education students in co-teach or in-class support situations.
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the principal.
Employer will accept a minimum of a Bachelors Degree or foreign equivalent in Education and a valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
