Coordinator of Homeless Foster-Care Neglected and Delinquent
Position Description:
The Homeless/Foster Care/Neglected and Delinquent Coordinator is responsible for planning implementing and coordinating efforts within the district and with outside agencies to ensure that homeless foster care and neglected and delinquent students have the accommodations necessary to succeed academically. Reporting to the Executive Director of Health and Related Services the Coordinator will be responsible for interfacing with principals program administrators school personnel and other service providers; implementing program
activities; ensuring district compliance with ESSA law; and providing all required reports in a timely manner.

Scope of Responsibility:
- Collaborates with the Director of Federal Compliance and Executive Director of Health and Related Services to prepare grant applications expend funds and ensure compliance.
- Seeks and writes grants to assist the district with the delivery of services to students experiencing homelessness.
- Coordinates efforts among child welfare agencies educational agencies and other service providers to ensure educational stability and improved outcomes.
- Ensures that all school personnel community organizations and families are aware of homeless and foster care rights/regulations and ensure that appropriate referrals are being made.
- Ensures that tutoring and/or summer school is provided to homeless and foster students who are in danger of failing.
- Orders and maintains inventory of educational materials and supplies to support students and tutors.
- Ensures transportation is provided to homeless and foster students and their families to attend school or school-related activities.
- Monitors attendance and academic achievement of homeless/foster care/neglected and delinquent students to determine if outreach or additional supports are necessary.
- Implements evidence-based practices to improve and support school attendance and engagement.
- Assist in creating and revising annually the district plan for identifying and addressing the needs of homeless
- Prepares and monitors the Homeless budget submits to Executive Director of Health and Related Services and exercises proper financial controls.
- Participates in monthly meetings with the Executive Director of Health and Related Services to provide the status of this department.
- Supervises the Homeless Case Manager.
- Performs all other duties assigned by the Executive Director of Health and Related Services or the Chief of Schools.
Skills and Qualifications:

- Masters degree from an accredited university/college in Social Work.
- LCSW-BACS licensure by the Louisiana Board of Social Work Examiners.
- Appropriate certification as a Social Worker (Qualified) as described in Bulletin 746 of the Louisiana Department of Education.
- Five (5) plus years of experience in working with students and families to ensure that all needs are met as required by law.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal and state laws regarding homeless foster neglected and delinquent and the ability to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in providing professional development.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in multiple settings and have the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture creator that can inspire and motivate.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
- Working knowledge of federal and state laws policies and regulations relevant to schools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and skilled in Google Suite.
- Working knowledge telehealth platforms and experience in providing virtual mental health services.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other professionals to obtain positive solutions.
- Explicit knowledge of evidenced based practices.
- High degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.

Sitting is a required part of each workday. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing walking reaching bending lifting up to ten (10) pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools work locations and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
