Job Summary
Assists Principals and Teachers in improving health and physical education instruction in Grades K-12 by coaching training and supporting the district-wide implementation of standards-based instruction.
Essential Functions
1. Collaborates with Curriculum and Instruction staff regarding standards-based instruction.
2. Provides input and support to principals and teachers relative to curriculum and instructional methodology.
3. Works with the Director of Wellness to prepare and implement curriculum materials and resources.
4. Participates in evaluation and selection of materials and equipment appropriate for teaching of assigned curriculum in the schools.
5. Visits schools on a regular basis to facilitate the implementation of standards-based instruction.
6. Conducts classroom visits for the purpose of co-teaching and co-planning.
7. Participates in development and teaching of in-service courses related to health and physical education content skills methods and strategies.
8. Assists in implementing District goals and strategic commitments.
9. Participate in training programs offered to increase skills and proficiency related to District Health and Physical Education programs.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Masters degree preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years teaching experience with background in curriculum planning articulation instruction model lessons training feedback and follow-up.
Certifications & Licenses: Physical Education K-12 and/or Health Education K-12.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of professional development methodologies
- Expert in-service training and professional growth activity delivery skills
- Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong word processing and presentation software skills
- Strong creative problem solving skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to facilitate meetings effectively
- Ability to implement continuous improvement processes
- Ability to collaborate with parents Principals Teachers and school staff
