JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Graphic Designer serves as a print and digital designer for The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. This position works to maintain UTHSCs brand standards and provides designs that are consistent in style across the various colleges and departments. This position works with the colleges and departments on campus the Communications and Marketing team members and vendors to design layout and coordinate the production of print and digital marketing materials.



Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plans designs develops and creates content and creative pieces.
  2. Ensures consistency and creative stylistic and branding standards are met.
  3. Works independently following brand and style objectives and the general direction of the Creative Services Manager.
  4. Communicates and translates complex technical information and subject matter in a way that can be easily consumed by a target audience.
  5. Participates in brainstorming planning and strategy sessions with Communications and Marketing staff and clients.
  6. Creates visual content that supports UT Health Science Center campaigns and initiatives.
  7. Manages projects and prioritizes work to meet deadlines.
  8. Works with campus clients team members and vendors to determine the best way to effectively communicate/market to a specified audience.
  9. Consults analyzes assesses and develops plans to communicate the clients needs and objectives.
  10. Coordinates and collaborates with other divisions in Communications and Marketing to provide clients with the most robust and efficient communications and marketing campaign.
  11. Works collaboratively with the UT Licensing office to effectively and accurately brand and approve branding for various promotional products at UT Health Science Center.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelors Degreein Art Communications Advertising/Marketing Graphic Design or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of relevant job experience in professional communication graphic design advertising/marketing or similar environment; OR a combination of college coursework and related experience to equal five (5) years.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Expert design skills for print and digital media.
  • Expert knowledge in industry-standard design software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to produce printed and digital marketing materials from concept to design to proofing to preparing files for the vendor.
  • Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects at once and meet quick deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and produce quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work and think proactively prioritize tasks plan and develop creative strategies.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with and provide recommendations to management.
  • Strong organizational skills to maximize workflow efficiency.
