About the Opportunity:

The College of Professional Studies invites applications foranopen-rank non-tenure track faculty positionin theMaster of Professional Studies in Digital Media (DGM)at the Northeastern University Campus in Boston Massachusetts.

The DGM program provides learners with core knowledge in design thinking user experience personal craft and technical implementation as well as an immersion in the cross-cultural team-based strategic and creative challenges foundational to success in the field. Depending on their choice of concentration graduates will be positioned to excel user experience design digital media management and game animation and narrative design.

There are two pathways through the program: a direct pathway for learners who can build on their formal knowledge and experience and a Connect pathway entry that offers learners without prior experience in core technical and/or creative concepts a bridge pathway into the degree.

Responsibilities:

This full-time non-tenure track faculty member is expected to bring their intellectual and creative capacity to bear in advancement of the program seeking to serve students by participating in a range of teaching and non-teaching activities that support the advancement of the program. They will teach and work with the program office on administrative issues and programmatic projects.

Beyond the classroom faculty members will engage in service at the department college and university levels with responsibilities based on-ground at the Boston campus and contributing to the vibrancy of campus life while also pursuing ongoing professional development.

Teaching (80%)

  • Teach coursesin digital media such asVisual Communication Fundamentals Usability and Human Interaction Content Management Systems Capstone Digital Design Seminar.
  • Engage in curriculum development program assessment and the integration of emerging digital media trends and practices into academic offerings.
  • Oversee the instruction of specific courses within the curriculum. Responsibilities include supporting the CPS Operations in the selection of part-time instructors advising on syllabi and evaluating part-time instructor performance.
  • Mentor and advise students guiding them in their academic and professional development.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with industry partners staying current on the latest digital media trends and best practices.

Service & Professional Development (20%)

  • Create professional development opportunities for full and part-time faculty in the unit.
  • Serve on committees that support the mission of the program and the vision of the College and wider University.
  • Promote the discovery and dissemination of knowledge through scholarship research creative activity and professional development.

The position is based in Boston Massachusetts.

Qualified candidates must be prepared to work with global student populations.

Faculty enjoy a collegial work environment that allows for work-life balance and are expected to be available to students as needed. The faculty member will report directly to the Academic Director of Applied Technologies and Intelligence Programs

Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate strong teaching abilities and a dedication to continued improvement as an educator. Experience teaching at the masters level developing on ground and online courses and proven success in working with international students are desired attributes.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and characteristics:

A terminal degree from an accredited institution in a major area of digital media or a closely related field including graphic design fine arts digital marketing or game design or development by appointment start date.

Demonstrated experience as a practitioner within the broader digital media community.

Demonstrated professional marketing and managerial skills in an applied technology-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience mentoring students with a wide variety of backgrounds and prior educational experiences.

Experience with online course delivery facilitation and innovative use of technology in support of learning.

Pay Range:

52-week Salary Ranges: Assistant Teaching Professor: $80000.00 - $114000.00 Associate Teaching Professor: $98000.00 - $111000.00 Teaching Professor: $117000.00 - $138000.00

With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
