A Brief Overview
The manager provides leadership and management for Child Life Healing Arts Teacher/School Liaison and Spiritual Care programs and team members across Childrens Nebraska. They collaborate with leadership across the departments units and clinics to meet strategic needs and goals of the organization. The role involves mentoring role modeling and guiding team members. Using a data-driven approach the manager identifies improvement opportunities and leads performance teams according to organizational processes. They monitor care to ensure cost-effective implementation and evaluation. The manager has 24-hour accountability for services within their scope of control. Responsible for program development operational oversight fiscal management and scorecard reporting they collaborate with hospital leadership interdisciplinary teams and community partners to enhance services that promote coping resilience and holistic well-being for patients families and staff.
Essential Functions
- Program Leadership and Development
- Responsible for the design implementation and maintenance of their programs and services including but not limited to Bereavement Child Life Facility dog The Hub Healing Arts School Liaisons Spiritual Care and supportive services for patients and families.
- Lead program innovation and growth ensuring alignment with organizational strategy accreditation standards and best practices.
- Develop implement and evaluate policies processes and services that enhance quality safety and patient/family experience.
- Partner with philanthropy foundations and community stakeholders to secure and steward resources grants and donations.
- Provides direction in coordination of services and resource exploration.
- Operational and Fiscal Management
- Manage departmental budgets staffing models and resources to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Develops annual budget with Director. Monitors and prepares budget variance reports for the department.
- Monitor performance metrics productivity and resource utilization making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Applies business and management expertise to identify problems/opportunities determine solutions and measure results.
- Responsible for the implementation and execution of business plans or activities for the department. May assist director with development of business plan.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards safety practices policies and legal requirements.
- People Leadership
- Recruits hires and retains highly qualified staff fostering an inclusive and supportive culture.
- Provide leadership coaching and professional development opportunities for team members within department.
- Participates in oversight of orientation competencies and ongoing performance management.
- Promote staff well-being engagement and resilience through supportive leadership practices.
- Conducts team member performance management duties including completion and delivery of performance evaluations setting goals dissemination of information coaching addressing performance issues/routine correction actions and recommending termination of employment.
- Collaboration and Integration
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate psychosocial and spiritual care into treatment planning and care delivery.
- Serve as a liaison to hospital committees leadership councils and external partners advocating for family-centered practices.
- Strengthen relationships with community organizations and faith groups to expand supportive networks for families.
- Education and Outreach
- Guide education initiatives for staff students and community members regarding the role and value of Patient & Family Holistic Support Services.
- Promote awareness of Child Life Healing Arts The Hub School Liaison Spiritual Care and holistic support professions across the healthcare system.
Education Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Child Life (or related field) Divinity Theology Spiritual Care or related healthcare/human services field required
Experience Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Child Life Spiritual Care or family-centered healthcare services required
- Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience including supervision and program management required
- Experience in pediatric or healthcare settings required
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of pediatric psychosocial development and spiritual care practices.
- Demonstrated success in program and people leadership.
- Ability to communicate effectively across diverse disciplines and populations.
- Skill in budget management resource allocation and data-driven decision-making.
- Capacity to build collaborative relationships across teams systems and community organizations.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis and sensitive family situations.
- Occasional need to cover an on call shift in the evenings or weekends Required
Licenses and Certifications
- CCLS - Certified Child Life Specialist Upon Hire Required or
- BCC - Board Certified Chaplain Upon Hire Required
