Job Summary:

This position will provide education and technical assistance to state and county child welfare jurisdictions and judicial systems including agency attorneys children and parent attorneys court administrators and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include the development and dissemination of professional content relative to the safety of children experiencing immigration and child welfare involvement. Also the role requires familiarity and demonstrated skills regarding collective impact strategies with child protection systems to achieve Casey Family Programs goals. The primary focus of this position is to advance education for stakeholders in state child welfare systems around intersections with federal immigration processes and practices. This job does not include direct legal representation or the provision of case-specific legal advice to children and families.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop education and technical assistance materials including written summaries briefs PowerPoint presentations information packets and newsletters.
  • Provide education and technical assistance internally within Casey Family Programs at State county or community events on the immigration needs of children at the intersection of immigration and child welfare as assigned.
  • Deliver and adapt educational presentations for legal and non-legal audiences.
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to Casey Family Programs field office staff regarding cases involving children or family members with immigration needs.
        • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to spread effective and quality practices across the country to meet the needs of children and families at the intersection of immigration and child welfare and share with stakeholders and jurisdictions through education partnerships and direct technical assistance.
        • Establish and maintain trusting and effective relationships within Casey to collaborate on projects as assigned designed to increase immigration legal capacity for children in the child welfare system.
        • Maintain current and up-to-date knowledge of changes in immigration law that impact children and families at the intersection of immigration and child welfare and their implications.
        • Document state and national engagement activity and maintain current progress analysis to reduction goals.
        • Conduct efficient and effective project management with accountability to other team members and complete timely activity documentation.
        • Perform other related duties as assigned.

                Qualifications:

                • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and minimum of 5 years of immigration legal practice and demonstrated competency in the immigration legal needs of children and families including experience working with children and families in direct representation and/or child welfare systems.
                • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to communicate clearly and share timely information with diverse audiences. Extensive presentation/legal education experience and working knowledge of current issues in child welfare law preferred.
                • Demonstrated critical thinking about the factors that contribute to children and family well-being with a specific focus on underserved and disproportionately represented children families and communities.
                • Knowledge of the root causes and lived experiences of immigrant children youth and families as well as the national landscape of various organizations focused on this population.
                • Familiarity with the child welfare system is preferred but not required.
                • Travel of up to 25% is required. Driving on Casey Family Programs business may require the use of a personal vehicle; adherence to vehicle safety guidelines and insurance eligibility are required.
                • Proficient use of Microsoft Products: Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
                • Commitment to and experience advancing equity and respect for cultural racial gender and ability differences.
                • Proven organizational and time management skills with particular emphasis and attention to detail; the ability to work independently and manage multiple ongoing tasks; and the ability to coordinate among multiple agencies and partners required.
                • Ability to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information by learning and following all relevant policies and protocols and using sound judgment in the handling and sharing of that information.
                • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure and stressful work environments. Ability to manage stress and self-care.
                • Physical requirements include the ability to lift and reach for light objects; close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data text and figures; ability to type utilizing a computer keyboard; ability to travel to outside locations; and the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time as a primary job function.

                The typical hiring range for this position in Seattle WA is $126990 to $149400. The full salary range for the role is $126900 to $171810. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidates job-related skills experience and expertise as evaluated during the interview process.

                Casey Family Programs offers comprehensive benefits including medical dental and vision coverage accrual of 12 days of annual leave 12 days of sick leave10 paid holidays per year and each employee receives one personal holiday to use each calendar year. Employees that meet certain tenure qualifiers are eligible for up to eight weeks of parental leave for the birth or placement of a child for adoption or foster care. After the completion of 10 years of continuous full-time regular employment employees in good standing are permitted for a three-month sabbatical with pay. CFP also offers many opportunities for continued learning training and development.
