The Community Health Services Division of Public Health- Seattle & King County is seeking a Full Time Administrative Specialist II / Patient Services Representative tojoin our dynamic multidisciplinary and diverse team at Eastgate Public Health Center in the delivery of health services to the Countys most vulnerable people. Eastgate Public Health Center is one of the largest centers where we provide family health pediatrics sexual and reproductive health teen clinic parent-child health dental health health insurance enrollment and Orca Lift. We serve a diverse low-income population including people who are experiencing homelessness recent immigrants and refugees people with complex health conditions and people with limited English proficiency. The successful candidate must have excellent and reliable attendance and stellar customer service skills both in-person and over the telephone (discretion patience etiquette professionalism).

The candidate must be an independent self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills. They must be able to work with supervisors and colleagues to develop and promote a team-centered atmosphere that facilitates efficient operations and maximum service delivery service delivery to clients.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.



Job Duties

  • Welcome all clients providing stellar customer service which includes treating all people with respect and warmth.
  • Registering clients requesting financial and insurance information verifying insurance coverage calculating fees collecting payments and scheduling appointments.
  • Identify when patient needs triage by healthcare staff and quickly identify potential emergency situations.
  • Provide program-specific information that requires limited interpretation of established policies procedures and other relevant sources to internal and/or external customers over the telephone in writing and/or in person.
  • Utilize a variety of computer programs including Epic Provider One and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ordering supplies making copies faxing and other general office and clerical duties.
  • Utilize language interpreters when appropriate to meet clients needs.
  • Maintaining inventory ordering collecting and distributing supplies and/or equipment. May lift up to 25 pounds in order to move boxes retrieve health records or replenish office supplies with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Interviewing internal and/or external customers to establish program-specific documentation and/or identify services needed.
  • Coordinating patient and information flow while maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with Federal HIPPA laws Dealing with sensitive and /or potentially volatile situations with customers.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Ideal Candidate:

  • Have at least one of more years of experience in healthcare preferably in a medical practice office setting or clinic preferrable primary care and within the last five years.
  • Having at least one or more years of experience using basic medical terminology within the last five years.
  • Skilled at respectfully interacting with people of all backgrounds including individuals with limited English and those living unsheltered
  • Skilled at handling confidential data and sensitive situations with tact and discretion
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced high-volume environment.
  • Able to maintain their composure under pressure.
  • Know their strengths and weaknesses open to feedback will admit their mistakes quickly learn from them and making positive changes.
  • Experience with Electronic Practice Management systems that include health records patient scheduling and financial transactions
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and other web enabled tools.
  • Are compute savvy and able to learn to use new computer programs and technical tools quickly.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with patients staff and providers
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Able to move up to 25 pounds in order to move boxes retrieve health records or replenish office supplies with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality of client information and knowledge of HIPAA.
  • Are action-oriented and able to quickly prioritize use time effectively and efficiently are skilled at identifying and eliminating barriers and are willing to ask for help to accomplish tasks. Enjoy working with a team are cooperative encourage collaboration and can work with teammates to find collectively beneficial solutions.


Desired Candidate:
  • One or more years of experience working in a healthcare or clinic setting within the last five years
  • Ability to recognize spell enunciate and understand basic medical terminology.
  • Skilled using Epic Practice Management System regarding patient registration appointment scheduling and financial transactions
  • Knowledge and understanding of Trauma Informed Care principles
  • Knowledge of Apple Health Medicaid and Qualify Health Plans
  • Bi-lingual Spanish
