GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Habitat and Access Technician for a six-month appointment based in Dubois Wyoming. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in one of Wyomings most scenic landscapes while directly contributing to wildlife conservation and public access efforts.
The Habitat and Access Technician performs a variety of land management practices that support the development enhancement and maintenance of Wildlife Habitat Management Areas (WHMAs) and Public Access Areas (PAAs). Responsibilities may include habitat improvement projects fence and irrigation system maintenance weed management operation of trucks and equipment and upkeep of roads parking areas and access sites.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors operating equipment and taking pride in maintaining quality habitat and recreational access for the public. Join us in helping conserve Wyomings wildlife resources and ensuring continued access for hunters anglers and outdoor enthusiasts.

- Fence construction and maintenance Wildlife and stock fence
- Operation and maintenance of farm equipment and machinery
- Weed identification and treatments
- Wetland management
- WHMA and PAA maintenance of roads parking areas and boat ramps
- ATV/UTV operation and maintenance
- Operation of power tools 4x4 pickups and trailers
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:Preference will be given to those with farm or ranch background or experience related to range management fish and wildlife resource management habitat development or college coursework towards a degree in range fish or wildlife management.
**Must have a valid drivers license.
KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge and experience in farming/ranch work and irrigation
- Knowledge of wildlife management natural resource management range management wetland management and habitat management
- Skill in organizing planning prioritizing and managing time
- Ability to listen be a team player and communicate with other employees and the public
- Ability to work alone and exercise independent judgment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Weekend work will be required
- Positions may require extended stays in campers or tents
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Position will often work independently outside in all weather conditions
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-exempt
- Successful applicants for employment must pass a background check prior to appointment
- Position will be located inDubois (4/1/2026 thru 9/30/2026). Position may have housing provided (cabins and/or campers).
