Position Summary
The Workers Compensation Clinical Hygienist administers the Universitys Workers Compensation Program and Clinical Compliance. The position coordinates and monitors the Universitys workers compensation and clinical safety programs as well as serving as the main liaison to the States Third Party Administrator ( TPA ) for workers compensation. As part of the Workers Compensation program the position will coordinate management of the program as well as update the OSHA 300 log to maintain compliance regarding federal ( OSHA ) state ( NCOSHA NC Workers Compensation Act OSHR ) and university requirements. As part of the Clinical Safety program the position will coordinate management of the program as well as maintain compliance with regards to federal ( OSHA ) state ( NCOSHA ) Joint Commission (JC) and University requirements. The individual in this position coordinates the Workers Compensation/Clinical Safety program and consults with campus faculty and staff States TPA and Attorney General office on workers compensation claims corrective actions regulations and requirements of regulatory agencies. The primary goals of the position are to ensure compliance with the States workers compensation program and a healthy and safe environment for the faculty staff students and visitors at all UNC facilities. The position administers the Commercial Drivers License ( CDL ) Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program required by the Federal Highway Administration for University employees holding a CDL .
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Must possess a valid North Carolina drivers license and an acceptable driving record. Knowledge Ability to apply full knowledge and understanding of EHS State and federal rules and regulations; knowledge of local policies and regulations and accreditations and consensus requirements such as OSHA NC Workers Compensation Act Joint Commission Dept. of Transportation etc.; knowledge of applicable equipment. Program Monitoring and Administration. Ability to inspect/assess monitor investigate and/or recommend corrective action. Ability to conduct trends analysis. Ability to document compliance with standards. Ability to perform technical work program design and implementation. Accountability for outcomes of EHS issues. Training and Education. Ability to serve as Subject Matter Expert in developing updating and implementing training programs. Ability to assess develop design implement and provide consulting services to management on safety topics. Safety and Health Compliance. Ability to analyze applicable policies and procedures and manages compliance with EHS measures and guidelines. Communication. Ability to interpret and communicate information to individuals or groups. Ability to deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Ability to clearly and concisely convey written information orally or in writing to individuals or groups to ensure that they understand the information and the message. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others. Ability to communicate major investigation and actions internal and external to the organization.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Bachelors degree in a physical science biological science environmental science/engineering occupational safety industrial technology or related discipline; and/or 4-5 years experience in the Environment Health & Safety profession. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate using written oral and multimedia modalities.
