The Safety Leader Wind plays a critical role in driving a strong safety culture and ensuring a safe working environment in a manufacturing-focused manufacturing this role you will develop and implement EHS (Environment Health & Safety) policies and procedures conduct incident and injury investigations perform risk assessments and ensure compliance with local state federal and applicable international regulations. You will act as a key resource for safety best practices partner with cross-functional teams and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses and improve EHS performance across the site.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures tailored to the manufacturing environment including post-injury and event learning.
  • Ensure site alignment with state federal and applicable international EHS rules and regulations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant EHS regulations and standards; stay current on changes in legislation and best practices.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments for new tooling equipment or processes introduced to the site and complete required annual reviews.
  • Develop implement and maintain programs to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses including area assessments injury investigations and clear measurable goals.
  • Lead injury and event investigations develop learning reports and assign and track recommended corrective actions.
  • Provide day-to-day EHS support for the facility responding to safety concerns and supporting operational teams.
  • Serve as a best-practice and quality resource for the facility contributing to safety strategy and policy development.
  • Oversee EHS training administration including course and audience assignment and management in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Be accountable for tracking and timely completion of all EHS regulatory and role-based training; partner with department leaders to schedule and maintain compliance.
  • Coordinate and follow up on EHS audits inspections and findings ensuring timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS performance and reduce risk.
  • Lead and direct Safety Representatives assigned by each department providing coaching and direction.
  • Use sound judgment to make decisions or solve complex EHS challenges drawing on experience in operations product management manufacturing technology or engineering.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues across the facility and lead projects within cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and technical developments in EHS; incorporate new perspectives into existing processes and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college and a minimum of 6 years of EHS or manufacturing safety experience
  • OR
  • High school diploma / GED and at least 10 years of EHS or manufacturing safety experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or equivalent industrial environment with direct safety/EHS responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement safety programs and procedures in an operational environment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Professional certifications such as CHST ASP or CSP preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to drive culture change and engage employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems and safety issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs and projects from concept through implementation.
  • Ability to document plan market and execute EHS programs and initiatives effectively.
  • Established project management skills including organizing cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS best practices and how EHS integrates with operations manufacturing and engineering.
  • Working knowledge of industry competition and key factors that differentiate EHS performance in the market.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and EHS data/metrics tools.
  • Prior experience in wind energy or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position the pay range for this position is between $113100.00 and $188500.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
