Position Overview
Lewis & Ellis LLC is seeking an experienced Business Development Representative (BDR) to support new client origination efforts on a contract basis.
The BDR will be responsible for identifying and qualifying prospective clients initiating outreach and facilitating introductions between prospects and Lewis & Ellis consulting professionals.
Nature of Engagement
This position is structured as an independent contractor relationship not an employment position. The contractor is not eligible for employee benefits and is responsible for all applicable taxes insurance and business expenses.
The Business Development Representative will:
- Originate and qualify new business opportunities for Lewis & Ellis consulting services
- Conduct outbound outreach efforts (including phone and email outreach) to prospective clients
- Schedule qualified discovery meetings between prospects and Lewis & Ellis consultants
- Collaborate with Lewis & Ellis leadership to align prospects with appropriate consulting expertise
- Support opportunity progression through proposal and engagement stages as applicable
- Maintain accurate records of outreach and opportunity status within HubSpot CRM
- Coordinate professionally with Lewis & Ellis leadership regarding pipeline status and results
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is driven by results. Strong performers consistently generate qualified appointments move opportunities through proposal stage and help convert new prospects into consulting engagements - all while keeping opportunities well-documented and moving forward.
For reference top-performing contractors typically generate around 120 qualified appointments 40 proposals and 10 new consulting engagements in a year. These benchmarks are meant to illustrate what success can look like; how you get there is up to you.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in business development sales or client acquisition (B2B preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to independently source engage and qualify prospects
- Familiarity with CRM systems (HubSpot experience preferred)
- Proven ability to manage a pipeline and drive opportunities forward
- Professional judgment discretion and reliability
Compensation Structure
Compensation is performance-based and tied to measurable outcomes:
- Weekly Retainer: $1000 per week (paid via invoice)
- Incentive Compensation:
- $75 per qualified appointment completed
- $150 per proposal issued to a prospect
- 2% of first-year revenues from new client engagements originated
Compensation is paid based on submitted invoices and verified results.
Term and Growth Opportunity
This engagement is project-based and ongoing by mutual agreement. While this role is structured as an independent contractor position Lewis & Ellis may at its discretion consider qualified contractors for future employee roles should business needs and circumstances change. No promise or guarantee of employment is implied.
Location
This role supports business development efforts primarily focused in North Dallas / Plano; however the contractor may perform services from a location of their choosing.
