WALK-IN COUNSELLING THERAPIST (CONTRACT) (1-26)
Job Status: 1-Year Contract to March 2027
Hours of Work: 7 hours per week (Mondays from 12pm to 8pm)
Base office: Huntsville

Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to provide direct clinical services to individuals and their families in need of counselling/psychotherapy within the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound. The incumbent is responsible for delivering high quality assessment individual and group treatment/counselling intervention(s) following best practices recommendations. The priority will be given to those experiencing serious mental illness. The Therapist works in partnership with other organizations for shared care provides consultation in the community. The incumbent will provide timely and immediate accessible information referrals and support for clients accessing the walk-in service.
Education and Qualifications:
- Preferred qualifications include a masters level post-secondary degree in Psychology Psychiatric Nursing Social Work or equivalent degree along with current registration in good standing within their respective professional regulatory body/college including College of Nurses of Ontario Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the practices of psychotherapy
- Demonstrated experience in providing group individual and walk-in therapy
- Practical experience and knowledge working with people with serious mental illnesses and addictions and a commitment to their rights
- Demonstrated competency with principles and practices of individual group and crisis interventions
- Indigenous cultural awareness and education is an asset
- Clear Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Ability to work autonomously and with a multidisciplinary team in a rural setting
- A willingness to serve clients within the communities of the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound.
- Experience with Microsoft Word Outlook Calendar and Client information systems
- A willingness to work shifts (including evenings weekends and statutory holidays)
- Bilingual in French is an asset
- A valid Ontario G or G2 drivers license and a safe reliable means of transportation
Salary scale: $35.90 to $44.26 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience.
