Weare building a new Zero-One startup within Coupang focused on in-house development of Robotics and Automation technology to support our fulfillment andlogisticsnetwork. Global Operations Automation and Robotics Technology (GOART) is an organization responsible for developing and deploying the most advanced and innovative fulfillment and transportation automation and robotics solutions that will transform Coupangs fulfillment andlogisticsnetwork. This is a unique opportunity to join a startup within one of the leading e-Commerce companies in Asia. The team will be based out of Coupangs offices in Mountain VieworSeoul.

Weare looking for experienced computer vision experts to be the Sr. Staff Computer Vision Engineer the brain behind the GOARTsensing and perception team. This technology leader will draw from his rich experiences and deepexpertisein developing and deploying FC automation solutions using computer vision to define our technology roadmap and lead the design implementation and rollout of advanced robotic perception solutions over Coupangslogisticsnetwork. With a startup mindset this technology leader canoperatecomfortably under ambiguity with the opportunity to initially be hands-on while building the computer vision technology and product from ground-up grow the org and deliver results under time and resource constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own GO ARTs robotic perception technology vision and development roadmap

• Be the go-to-person for the state-of-the-art computer vision technologies and its application in FC automation

• Lead design development test and deployment of integrated automation and robotic perception systems especially for robotic manipulation

• Working with other members of the engineering team and stakeholders to execute against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum environment

• Deliver production-quality HW and SW perception systems in order to achieve the scalability reliability availability extensibility and performance objectives

• Bring innovative ideas to practice and continuously improve the efficiency reduce the cost and wow the customers through smart Coupang Rocket Delivery service

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in developing and deploying AI ML for robotic perception systems for fulfillment and logistic automation
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related fields

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8 years of experience in developing and deploying AI ML robotic perception solutions with competing priorities and delivering results in a fast-paced environment

• Working closely with multiple engineering teams from fulfillment and logistics fields which is mainly operating based on KST time-zone

• Master or PhD degree in Computer Science Electronic Engineering Industrial Engineering AI ML Robotics Computer Vision or related discipline with 8 years of experience in FC and logistic automation using robotic manipulation technologies

• Demonstrated ability of building integrating and delivering highly reliable and automated warehouse systems using AI ML computer vision technologies especially using robotic arm and robotic manipulation solutions

• In-depth knowledge of real-time AI ML such as DNN object detection tracking recognition and pose estimation 3D data processing 3D object recognition automated sensor calibration etc

• Deep expertise in real-time AI ML robotics robotic manipulation and automation system and technologies

• Well versed with robotic perception ecosystem including 2D 2.5D and 3D sensors real-time computer vision processing platform libraries and peripherals vendors

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

• Proven record of innovation and problem-solving skills especially in the areas of logistics and fulfillment automation using computer vision and robotic arms

• FC and logistic automation

• 8 years of experience leading FC automation and computer vision development through multiple product/platform releases

• Deep expertise in building high quality real-time robotic perception systems including sensor hardware and software design code reviews and QA processes

• Expert-level programming skills and in-depth knowledge of FC automation FC robotic perception solutions and robotic manipulation solutions

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang your base pay is one part of your total compensation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $174000/year to $299000/year. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience.
