The Equipment Operator/Maintenance Mechanic maintains facilities tools and equipment mechanical systems and vehicles and preserve areas frequented by the visiting public. They undertake restoration projects on preserves and maintain equipment. The Equipment Operator/Maintenance Mechanic operates heavy machinery leads work teams remove exotic species and/or conducts species monitoring and manages livestock if necessary. They will serve on the fire crew and assist with inventory and purchasing of machinery. May work in variable weather conditions at remote locations on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.

What Youll Bring:

  • High school diploma and 4 years direct experience in applied mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience operating and/or repairing various types of equipment and machinery. (e.g.; lawn mower chainsaw tractor backhoe bulldozer dump truck two-way radio etc.).
  • Experience working with electrical plumbing welding and concrete.
  • Experience coordinating teams to complete construction and repair projects.
  • Must have a valid drivers license. Please indicate this in your resume.
  • Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications required to participate in prescribed burns or CPR first aid etc.
  • Must be qualified as a Fire Fighter Type 2 (FFT2) or willingness to achieve in a short timeframe including Introduction to ICS (I-100) Human Factors on the Fire line (L-180) Introduction to Wild land Fire Behavior (S-190) Firefighting Training (S-130) and one training burn serving under the supervision of a qualified FFT2.     • Experience working with or knowledge of natural systems.
    • Ability to recognize plant and animal species to complete preserve management activities.
    • Ability to complete tasks independently and manage diverse activities under deadlines.
    • PC familiarity.

    FIREARMS USAGE

    • Firearm possession/use is permitted under the following instances:
      • Euthanasia
      • Preserve Stewardship and Management: Control of certain animals.

    This position requires a valid drivers license and compliance with TNCs Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles rental cars or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered high risk drivers. Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement which may include a review of the prospective employees motor vehicle record.

    Salary Information:

    The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $24.00 $26.00 per hour. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidates actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors including for example the candidates location qualifications specific skills and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
