Carlow University is currently accepting applications for ourAssistant Professor & Bachelors of Social Work Field Director. This role perform duties that are necessary forupcoming semesters through duties such as interviewing students that need placement for the following semester recruiting and establishing field placement sites for the next term and managing paperwork so that students are set to begin work at the field site during the first week of the following semester.
Generaloversightof the field programincludesupdatingthe fieldmanual annuallyassistingwith any issues that arise with students currently in field sites ensuring the field program meets CSWE standards.
Essential Functions: - CoordinateandfacilitateUpper-Level admissionsprocess including:
- Verifystudent eligibilityfor Upper-Level admissions
- Verifystudent eligibility forenrolling in SW 399 PEL course
- CoordinatetheUpper-LevelAdmissionsInterviewcommitteemembers
- Schedulestudentinterviewswith theUpper-Level Admissions committee
- Recordadmission committees decision foreach students readiness for Upper-Level and Field Placement
- ProvidetheProgram Director (PD)information/datarelated to theprocess
- Providethe PD withUpper-Level Admissions committee recommendations
- VerifyGPA after fall grades are availableto ensureminimumrequirement met
- ProvidePD with a list of studentswhoare eligible for accepted status orprovisionalstatus and conditions to be met by the week before spring term beginsor not accepted status for which the PD will send the status letters to the students
- Evaluate and approve as appropriateallagencies as vetted before a student is placed in a new agency.
- Meet with all potential field placement studentsduringspring term that precedes the fall start to field placement.
- Placestudents at field sites withinitialcontractcompleted prior to the end of the spring term that precedes the fall start term for field placement.
- Work in tandem with field placement staff support fromOnline Program Management.
- Maintain active communication with vetted field sites through email calls visits invitationsto events.
- Provideprofessional development training opportunitiesvia Carlows many institutes each of which offers virtual workshops throughout the academic year.
- Provide field supervisor orientation each fall for supervisors overseeing field students in placement.
- Provide field student orientation each spring to students approved for field placement in the next academic year which includes meeting with each student 1:1 toassistwith student success in securing a field placement site.
- Update asappropriate annually field related sections in the Undergraduate Course Catalog field related documents BSW Field Manual for Students.
- Actively seek new field site opportunities as well as collaborative partnerships to enhance BSW field education.
- Ensure that allrelevant parties(field director field site supervisor field liaison field student)follow allstandards expectations protocols policies before during and afterfieldexperiencein accordance withCarlow University and the BSW Field Placement Manual.
- Confirmthatthe field sitehaspolicies and procedures in placeto support health and safety.
- Revise update create policies procedures protocols standards for field education with final approvalby the PDprior to implementation.
- Oversee the monitoringof thestudentplacement experience.
- Oversee the evaluation of student learning outcomes.
- Oversee the evaluation of the students learning experience in field placement.
- Oversee the evaluation of field setting effectiveness.
- Maintain any required IRB certifications or course completions to continue to collect data from graduating BSW majors.
- Inform the ProgramDirector (PD)of anyconcerns issues orproblems related to field educationin a timely mannerasappropriate.
- Assist the PDasrequestedtoassistwiththe daily operations and general oversight of field education as well as compliance with CSWE standards expectations and regulations Carlow University Department of Social Work and BSW Program policies andprocedures.
Minimum Education Level Required: - MSW plus DSW or PhD in Social Work
Minimum Related Experience Required: - 2 years of direct clinical practice experience post masters
