3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Purpose of the Job
To lead supervise and support operational teams delivering the Councils high-profile customer-focused recycling refuse and street cleansing services. This role ensures services are delivered efficiently safely and to the highest standards in line with legislation council policies and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support operational staff ensuring clear communication of roles responsibilities and expectations.
- Motivate and develop staff through training coaching and performance management.
- Monitor attendance conduct and performance addressing issues in line with council policies.
- Plan organize and allocate resources for daily waste collection recycling and street cleansing operations.
- Ensure efficient and timely delivery of services including prioritization of workloads and response to service requests.
- Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of vehicles machinery and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety legislation council policies and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety conducting risk assessments toolbox talks and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with waste management recycling and environmental legislation.
- Maintain high standards of service delivery responding promptly to complaints and enquiries.
- Monitor service performance against council KPIs and quality standards.
- Implement initiatives to improve efficiency sustainability and public satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of operational activities staff performance and service outcomes.
- Produce reports for management on service performance incidents and improvements.
- Contribute to budget monitoring and resource planning.
Requirement
Proven experience in supervising operational teams ideally in waste management or street cleansing.
Strong knowledge of health & safety environmental regulations and operational procedures.
Excellent leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan organize and prioritize work effectively.
Customer-focused with a commitment to high service standards.
Relevant qualifications in waste management environmental services or team leadership.
Experience with council operations and public service environments.
Competence in using IT systems for scheduling reporting and data management.
