In this position...

The right candidate will have experience in automotive interior instrument panel (IP) systems and injection molded plastics with focus on seamless passenger airbag systems.



Responsibilities

What youll do

  • Manage and author generic engineering core documents with absolute focus on delivery of robust design templates and failure mode avoidance by applying engineering disciplines including DFMEA PFMEA Control Plans SCCAF PDP and RQT specifications.
  • Champion and develop global design standards and solutions.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams attribute teams purchasing designers and R&A to assist in the development of a commodity strategy that delivers the highest quality at the lowest total cost.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to program engineers at the pre-launch validation and launch phases of their program
  • Benchmark best practices and processes (internal and external) to maximize product effectiveness
  • Develop and foster working relationships with suppliers to develop new technologies assess current capabilities to support program fits and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Support current model program teams to drive quality improvements by performing root cause analysis identifying solutions and prevent recurrence.
  • Champion projects to develop and integrate new technologies into Fords cockpit of the future
  • Apply root cause analysis for part design and/or manufacturing related issues
  • Lead and support design reviews of global programs to make sure design standards and robustness are applied into the seamless passenger airbag system for zero failure.
  • Make sure suppliers process ensures Ford quality to highest standards.



Qualifications

Youll have...

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma will be accepted if industry experience is aligned - BS Degree Preferred
  • 2 Years Experience working in automotive interior part design and release at various program phases
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering disciplines for failure mode avoidance.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects issue resolution and management reviews
  • Demonstrated ability to forge productive relationships achieve cooperation and influence priorities of technical experts and other key partners
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and high technical aptitude in interior systems
  • Functional knowledge of MS Office MS Project DFMEAs GD&T CAD (ability to review 3D part design and create engineering studies/sections)

Preferred

  • BS Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Electro-Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics
  • Recognized as having technical expertise in instrument panel systems with demonstrated capability through delivery at the program level
  • Plastic injection molding vibration welding PAB weakening experience
  • Mfg technologies: IMG/L cut sew wrap foam-in-place
  • CAD capable (Catia 3DX or similar) and 3D master section creation capable
  • Prototype build and execution experience
  • Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach/coach/mentor & document technical knowledge

This position is a salary grade 6 - 8 and ranges from $72480 - $162120.
