Position Marketing Statement

The Office of the State Fire Marshals Personnel Standards and Education Division is seeking to hire a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as the Executive I Testing Administrator. This position serves as a functional administrator providing primary oversight of all confidential examination test banks of questions for firefighter certifications and non-fire service certifications and ensures the integrity and effectiveness of testing processes. This position is responsible for end-to-end planning and execution of testing activities from coordinating test schedules and logistics to analyzing test results for insights. The ideal candidate has a meticulous approach to organizing complex materials and a keen analytical eye for ensuring quality and compliance. As the Executive I Testing Coordinator and employee of the State of Illinois the selected candidate will have access to state healthcare benefits and a pension plan. Essential Functions

  • Serves as the Personnel Standards and Education Divisions (PS&E) statewide Testing Coordinator to promote organize execute control and maintain all confidential examination test banks of questions for firefighter certifications and non-fire service certifications.
  • Processes submissions from key stakeholders for examination requests.
  • Serves as working supervisor.
  • Attends staff meetings conferences seminars and training sessions.
  • Participates in supervisory staff meetings making recommendations for the establishment of new operating procedures or revisions of existing procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college preferably with courses in business or public administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Specialized Skills

  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the development and administration of tests for professional certifications or credentialing in a public or private organization.
  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience analyzing and applying established standards to testing protocols in a public or private organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the development and administration of tests for professional certifications or credentialing in a public or private organization.
  • Prefers a minimum of one (1) year of experience analyzing and applying established standards to testing protocols in a public or private organization.
  • Prefers two (2) or more years of professional experience in testing compliance and program coordination.
  • Prefers one (1) or more years of professional experience working in a learning management system (LMS) for the purposes of creating delivering referencing and tracking the development of examination questions on a testing platform.
  • Prefers two (2) or more years of experience developing and applying policies and procedures for a public or private organization.
  • Prefers five (5) or more years in the utilization of MS Office programs which include MS Word Excel Powerpoint Outlook and Teams.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to travel with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled unscheduled or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • This position is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(a)). Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and requires occasional lifting carrying walking and standing.
