Were looking for an experienced Divisional Controller to join our COFRA team in Porto. You will join a multi-generational family business with a commitment to achieve systemic change across Liveable Cities Responsible Capital Clean Energy and Sustainable Food together with our management teams and mission-aligned external partners.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to oversee and ensure the accuracy consistency and compliance of financial reporting across business divisions while providing strategic financial guidance to top management. The role is critical in streamlining processes aligning financial practices with company and international standards and managing complex technical financial matters. Additionally it supports strategic decision-making integrates new businesses into the financial framework and facilitates cash repatriation ensuring financial coherence across the group.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the financial reporting and consolidation of business divisions.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures as well as local and international accounting standards (IFRS).
- Providing financial guidance and advice to top management of the different business units liaising directly with CFOs and CEOs.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Serving as the finance lead for the division partnering with operational management to drive profitability and efficiency.
- Coordinating activities between business units and the group to ensure alignment and consistency in financial reporting and decision
- Handling complex technical matters such as accounting issues valuations and impairments tax planning and financial systems implementation. Coordinating with tax legal and treasury functions.
- Leading cash repatriation from different businesses to the Group.
- Leading the integration of new businesses into the Groups financial reporting framework.
- Translating the Groups strategic priorities into practical guidance for various stakeholders.
- Communicating complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Being fully proficient in translating business processes and requirements into technical specifications.
- Demonstrating advanced practical knowledge of IFRS reporting.
- Showing an advanced understanding of tax and legal matters and their interconnection.
- Having an advanced practical understanding of financial assets.
- Possessing comprehensive practical knowledge of compliance and regulatory principles.
- Possessing advanced knowledge of reporting processes and tools such as Azure HFM OneStream etc.
What You Bring
- 610 years of experience.
- Experience in finance and accounting preferably in an international environment.
- Expertise in international and local accounting standards and their application (IFRS).
- Full understanding of tax and legal matters and their interconnection.
- Strong project management skills combining technical expertise with leadership capabilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial processes and the underlying systems landscape.
- Ability to conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Ability to maintain strong internal controls and support audit processes.
- Ability to understand divisional business models and their strategic priorities.
- Expert-level practical knowledge of Office 365 applications (Teams OneDrive SharePoint Word Excel PowerPoint Power BI etc.).
- Ability to translate new reporting requirements into automated system-driven processes.
- Education: Masters Degree (or equivalent) preferably in Finance or a related field.
- OneStream system experience (desired).
- English (required).
