Job Description

Integrated photonics is a cutting-edge technology that is shaping the future of our digital society ultrahigh bandwidth telecommunication quantum computing AI datacenters non-intrusive sensing LiDAR and intelligent manufacturing. This fast-moving field has abundant opportunities for innovation and valorization yet market visibility into photonics skills requirements remains fragmented and incomplete.

This Knowledge Valorization Officer position comprise both content development and course delivery. Content development will focus on executive-level training where participants will familiarise themselves with commercial and technological opportunities and risks for businesses and entrepreneurs entering the integrated photonics sector. You will work with a team of academics researchers and the wider industry ecosystem including the JePPIX platform to formulate learning objectives materials activities assessments and course evaluation methods. With respect to course delivery you will work on the positioning of multiple openly accessible courses that are tailored to the multiple roles within photonics businesses. With market surveys interviews and data analysis you will build a quantified understanding of the market need and strategies appropriate to address the EU skills agenda for photonics. Tasks include designing course frameworks validating concepts with clients supporting implementation and assessing the effectiveness.

The role is funded by the European Chips Design Platform (EuroCDP) an EU-wide initiative targeted at integrating chip design resources to offer a one-stop shop to designers. By streamlining access the platform aims to help reduce the economic and technical barriers of chip design facilitating fast prototyping and upscaling and thus stimulating the EU semiconductor industry. Within the project you will assess user satisfaction with the training programs offered in the EuroCDP analyse user feedback and propose course improvements. You will work closely with other colleagues on the project and ensure alignment with other initiatives like PIXEurope Photonics4Quantum and the Dutch Chip Competence Center.

This position will be in the Photonic Integration group leveraging our years of expertise in integrated photonics technology teaching and our established network in the field. Our group coordinates the Joint European Platform for Integrated Photonics (JePPIX) through which we already offer designer training programs in integrated photonics. You will be working alongside leading technology experts and experienced trainers gaining hands-on experience in both business analysis and operational coordination. You will develop new perspectives strengthen management and communication skills and engage with the vibrant European photonics ecosystem.
