ABOUT THE POSITION

There is currently one (1) 0.75 Part Time 28.00 hours per week On-site Airport Attendant. This position is located on-site reporting to the Gnoss Field Airport in Novato CA.

The Airport Attendant supports the safe efficient and compliant operation of the County airport in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations Advisory Circulars County airport policies and grant assurances. This position assists with daily airfield and facility operations customer service and maintenance activities to ensure the airport remains safe and accessible for aeronautical users and the public.

The Airport Attendant performs routine inspections responds to operational issues and assists airport management in maintaining compliance with FAA standards related to airfield safety operations and facilities. The position requires regular work outdoors in varying weather conditions and interaction with pilots tenants contractors and the public.

The ideal candidate takes immense pride in maintaining a secure operating environment and understands that strict compliance is vital for protecting airport users securing funding eligibility and upholding public trust. You should possess a foundational understanding of or a genuine willingness to learn FAA airport operational requirements. To support our mission of consistent service and safety candidates must make themselves available to work weekends and holidays.

As a key point of contact you will provide essential information to the public and airport users regarding FAA regulations local policies ground traffic and air traffic patterns. Your daily responsibilities include managing overnight tie-downs processing tenant forms and resolving customer disputes with professionalism. Beyond administrative duties you will play a hands-on role in facility oversightperforming minor maintenance such as weed control and painting inspecting grounds for cleanliness and coordinating with contract security for off-hours the event of an emergency you will be responsible for notifying response organizations and providing direct assistance to ensure the continued safety of the airfield.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE OF

  • Basic principles of general aviation facility operation and maintenance.
  • Basic principles of light aircraft operation handling and maintenance.
  • Basic computer applications related to the work.
  • Business mathematics.
  • Basic practices of facilities and grounds maintenance.

ABILITY TO

  • Learn and apply laws and regulations related to general aviation facility activities and aircraft operations.
  • Work cooperatively with contractors lessees tenants and the flying public.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Make accurate arithmetic calculations.
  • Respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Use basic tools safely and performing minor maintenance.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
  • Provide lead direction to alternative staff on a project basis.
  • Work in an airport office setting and outdoors in all weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in either service maintenance and/or customer support in a civil airport setting or general facilities and grounds maintenance.
