The Senior Relationship Manager (SRM) serves as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of the firms most complex and high-value institutional clients across Eastern Canada. Your mission is to deepen client loyalty ensure the seamless delivery of investment services and identify share of wallet opportunities within your assigned book of business.

This is a senior-level client-facing role that requires a sophisticated understanding of capital markets and the ability to navigate the unique cultural and regulatory nuances of the Quebec and Atlantic institutional landscapes.

Is this role right for you In this role you will:

  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge

Portfolio Management & Client Retention

  • Primary Liaison: Act as the lead advisor for a dedicated roster of pension funds endowments foundations and corporate treasury clients.
  • Service Excellence: Lead regular investment review meetings discussing portfolio performance attribution and market outlook in detail.
  • Strategic Retention: Develop and execute individualized Client Success Plans to ensure long-term satisfaction and mitigate competitive threat.

Technical Advisory & Reporting

  • Portfolio Insight: Translate complex investment strategies (Fixed Income Equities Alternatives and ESG) into clear actionable insights for client boards and investment committees.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure all client mandates are strictly adhered to and that reporting meets both regulatory standards and specific client requirements.
  • Problem Resolution: Act as the internal advocate for the client coordinating with Portfolio Managers Operations and Legal to resolve complex service issues.

Growth & Internal Collaboration

  • Cross-Selling: Identify opportunities to introduce new investment strategies or services to existing clients contributing to the firms organic growth.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior relationship managers and client service associates within the Eastern Canada team.
  • Consultant Coordination: Work closely with the Regional Head to manage relationships with regional investment consultants who oversee your assigned accounts.

  • Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Build a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts retains develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education Professional Experience Certifications and Skills required:

  • 710 years of experience in institutional client service or investment consulting.
  • University degree in Finance Economics or a related discipline.
  • CFA Charterholder (or progress toward) is strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of the Canadian institutional market particularly the nuances of Quebecs pension landscape.
  • Ability to dissect complex performance data and explain it simply to diverse audiences.
  • High level of soft skills to build trust with sophisticated institutional stakeholders and C-suite executives.
  • Proactive approach to client needsanticipating questions before they are asked.

Working Conditions:
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel domestically. Willingness to travel throughout Eastern Canada (approximately 2030% of the time).



In addition to French the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto as well as constantly interacting with other people including clients who speak English locally and elsewhere.
