Own the Production Rhythm and the Material Stream
As our Manufacturing Master Scheduler & Strategic Buyer you will orchestrate the Master Production Schedule (MPS) while leading purchasing for raw materials and components. You will translate customer demand forecasts and Kanban signals into a reliable efficient plan that supports on-time delivery and strong job profitabilitythen procure what the shop needs to execute.
A Day in the Role
- Build and maintain the Master Production Schedule in lockstep with the Sales & Operations Plan (S&OP).
- Balance inventory levels and production commitments to hit customer service targets incorporating input from Sales.
- Adjust shop floor sequences to protect promised lead times.
- Publish the Capacity Planning Report and track Earned Hours; partner with Operations to resolve shop load bottlenecks.
- Provide accurate capability-based lead times to Sales and support short lead-time escalations with Sales and Operations Leadership.
- Conduct capacity planning to ensure schedule integrity and compliance.
- Coordinate workflow across departments based on priorities orders and available resources (people parts materials equipment).
Purchasing & Material Flow
- Procure raw materials components and supplies essential to manufacturing.
- Manage Kanban-triggered replenishment to keep inventory lean and ready.
- Negotiate for competitive cost quality and delivery performance.
- Track supplier performance; address delivery quality or lead-time issues.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records in line with company policies and standards.
- Collaborate with Operations and Inventory teams to streamline material flow and prevent shortages or overstock.
What You Bring
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of scheduling experience in contract manufacturing (machining).
- Background in purchasing/procurement within a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (including Access) and ERP systems; Epicor and/or Autosched preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication including presentations and negotiations.
- Calm courteous teamwork under pressure.
- APICS certification preferred.
