Job Summary

Responsibilities:

Underwriting Performance

Act as reference person for Underwriting referrals for Commercial Property DACH for policy wordings and endorsements assessments of insurance coverage compliance (including sanctions) and related matters.

Support the PCM Commercial Property DACH to deliver on the strategic plan and budget for Commercial Property DACH;

Help to develop and evaluate appropriate metrics for monitoring effectiveness in the area of Underwriting performance (e.g. introduction of the Underwriter Dashboard);

Product Development & Product Support

Work with the Commercial Property Underwriting Units other Profit Centers Sales & Distribution and other internal stakeholders to further develop the product including product development expansion and/or standards and operational initiatives within Commercial Property

Support the development of policy wordings and the adaptation of client specific and bespoke solutions;

Act as the leading resource in negotiating model policy wordings with selected brokers and designing AIG wordings;

Support the establishment of Centers of Expertise and play a key role in their successful and effective operation

Act as a Multinational SME for EMEA

Underwriting Excellence & Risk Management

Support the development and the maintenance of a common set of underwriting standards including related procedures processes rules guidelines and manuals;

Help to analyze claims link to business and develop as well as suggest related guidelines and/or manuals;

Act as a sounding board for the PCM Commercial Property DACH and prepare decisions in close collaboration with the underwriting teams to smartly adjust underwriting strategies in order to optimize shifts in actual or anticipated market conditions;

Help to develop procedures for emerging (product) risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies;

Help to develop and ensure enaction of a strong framework and culture of risk management within Commercial Property DACH;

Act as the key responsible for regular technical training of underwriters including development of training material and the organisation of related training sessions;

Act as a center of excellence for daily inquiries of the Commercial Property DACH underwriting staff regarding questions related to underwriting transactions including risk assessment risk selection and pricing as well as procedures processes rules guidelines and manuals.

Individual Client Expert Underwriter

Assessment of Commercial Property risks individual calculation and preparation of tailor-made offers (incl. occasional presentations) on national and international coverage concepts for industrial and service companies including the associated negotiations with brokers and clients

Supervision of international Commercial Property programs with corresponding English language communication with foreign brokers customers and colleagues of the companys own foreign network

Active market development including identification of new business opportunities in close cooperation with the sales and client management teams in order to position AIG more strongly as a relevant Commercial Property insurer in Germany

Development and introduction of special innovative coverage and service concepts as a distinguishing feature from the competition

Commissioning of and participation in risk inspections as well as evaluation of technical reports and risk analyses with subsequent preparation of conclusions for cover

Analysis of Commercial Property insurance contracts and condition concepts of competitors and brokers including active negotiation of model conditions with brokers

Analysis and conception of individual contract clauses and terms and conditions

Assessment of Commercial Property and coverage law commentary and weighting of contractual Commercial Property agreements in German and English

Requirements

Minimum position requirements include high school degree typically followed by an advanced training in business economics or law or strong insurance industry training completed by qualified advanced trainings as well as an extensive experience including in depth technical underwriting background within the Commercial Property segment.
