About you and this role

Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for Packaging Engineer role located in Shanghai Dow Center China.

This role provides packaging specific technical support as junior level engineer in packaging tech center. You will receive instruction guidance and direction from more senior level roles. Requires conceptual knowledge of theories practices and procedures within job discipline as well as having general business knowledge developed through education or prior experience related to your discipline and functional area. You will need to have the ability to exchange straightforward information with others and ask questions to check for understanding perform routine assignments and solve standard problems using existing procedures analyze information and standard practices to make judgments. You will need to use established procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. You will be accountable for assigned contributions with no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Follow PMR (product and material request) process to conduct packaging review for assigned businesses and plants.
  • Be the gate keeper in PMR process for packaging material GMID and packaging assembly assignment and packaging material extension to plant. Ensure that all data created complies to the latest short text rule.
  • Responsible for the packaging specification and certification inquiries from end users for both Europe and Pacific. Maintain the latest vendor specification files and certifications in Universal Packaging Specification System (UPSS).
  • Support UPSS data collection validation and maintenance in system and continue to drive for data quality improvement. Responsible for the creation and release of packaging specification reports.
  • Manage system and work process upgrades in UPSS with functions like DSS and EDM.
  • Develop and maintain other packaging information database to meet the regional or country specific regulatory needs concerning Expanded Producer Responsibility.
  • Develop the technical documents such as component short text rule job aids work procedures.
  • Understand local requirements and regulations to maintain compliance for packaging development.
  • Participate in packaging engineering project customer QN follow-up and packaging improvement as needed.
  • Manage the artwork development and approval process for Dow branded packaging materials. This includes meeting business specific requirements Dow branding guideline Dow IP legal requirement product regulatory requirement etc.
  • Partner with customer to develop private label artworks to meet customer requirements.
  • In charge of life cycle management of artworks including documentation version control and communication to all stakeholders for all artwork changes.
  • Participate in Artwork Management System development and data entry.
  • Develop and manage work process steps and related business rules for the artwork development process.

Qualifications

  • University Degree preferably in Packaging Engineering Supply Chain Management Engineering or related other Sciences.
  • Proficient in both Chinese and Japanese language in speaking and writing.
  • 3 years experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
  • Chemical industrial packaging specification management or operational experience is required.
  • Artwork development and graphics design experience. Proficient in Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
  • Experience in SAP is required.
  • Proficient in Windows Microsoft Office applications and prepared to learn functional and company specific applications.
