Speech and Language Pathologists at Capital City:Speech and Language PathologistThe Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for delivering related services to identified students as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and working with inclusion teachers and classroom teachers to provide modifications and accommodations and develop a classroom environment that supports differentiated instruction and student progress. While the SLP has primary responsibility to identify students (see below) they are expected to support the success of all Capital City students. The SLP reports to the Chief Inclusion Officer. The SLP at Capital City is expected to: Deliver direct services to identified students as specified in their IEPs. The SLP is expected to start service delivery during the first week of school. Be present timely and prepared for instructional periods. Notify case managers in advance if you will not be present for class periods or meetings. Plan for delivery of services. This may require researching and developing IEP goal-specific approaches and strategies. Keep daily contact notes of work with students. Prepare monthly progress notes to document progress towards IEP goals. Generate finalized monthly service trackers in Special Programs (SP) to document related services. Maintain a personal system of contact notes and ensure progress notes and reports become part of students files. Conduct assessments to track student progress towards IEP goals at regular intervals. Conduct screenings and evaluations of referred students according to IDEA guidelines. Adhere to legal timeline requirements for evaluation completion using Special Programs as a guide. Provide written progress reports to parents four times per year (November February April June) with information from monthly progress notes. Participate in Inclusion Team Meetings as determined by the DSS. Check-in regularly (at least bi-weekly) with the Chief Inclusion Officer to review and discuss student regularly with inclusion and classroom teachers as well as case managers and Directors of Student Services (DSS). Support teachers in providing modifications and supports for students with speech and language needs. Make suggestions and recommendations for instructional delivery. Present one-two professional development sessions for entire staff. Participate in staff development institute held two weeks in August before students position is ineligible for recurrent telework. Job duties are expected to take place in-person at Capital City seeks to employ experienced credentialed service providers. Ideal candidates have a Masters degree and 2 years of required qualifications: Bachelors degree and:Masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology Communication Sciences and Disorders or related fieldBoard of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology licensure (DC Health)Additionally strong candidates have: 2 or more years experience as a school-based or youth Speech and Language PathologistASHA certification is preferredExperience working in urban environments with diverse populations Experience working with English learnersKnowledge of SEDS or similar education databasesProven ability to work as a member of a teamStrong leadership capabilitiesA commitment to their own learning and development Spanish language proficiencyIn addition to the above requirements related service providers must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background Our SchoolCapital City was founded in 2000 and currently serves a diverse population of nearly 1000 students across PK-12th grade.
