Job Summary

SUMMARY

Assists Painter in buffing body shop repaired automotive vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership quality specifications and time standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Buffs vehicles after painting.
Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely.
Removes rust from metal and grease and dirt from work surface.
Cleaning vehicle interiors and exteriors in compliance with all company standards and client requests.
Operating buffers steamers hoses vacuums and other equipment to meet service expectations.
Using cleaning protective and restorative agents to maintain and enhance the appearance of vehicles.
Performing inspections and keeping complete accurate records of the vehicles condition.
Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.
Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
Keeps work area clean.
Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment including respirator in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint thinners and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
Understands keeps abreast of and complies with federal state and local regulations that affect body shop operations such as hazardous waste disposal OSHA Right-to-Know etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED and three to six months related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
