Responsibilities:

Under the direction and supervision of the Leadership Staff the School Nurse (RN) Registered Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of treatment plans for students medical needs daily administration of medication assisting in the prevention or treatment of physical needs and disease and coordinates routine of daily health assessments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer daily or as needed medication and implement treatment plans for students medical needs
  • Collect student medication from parent/guardian and ensure medication administration follows prescription details. Communicate and work with parent/guardian to refill school supply of student medication as needed.
  • Document and update medication administration records.
  • Conduct ongoing individualized student health assessments prioritizing students conditions or needs within timeframe specified by schools policies procedures or protocols.
  • Provide first aid and emergency aid to students and school staff.
  • Document student assessment findings physical/psychosocial responses and progress towards problem resolution.
  • Report students condition to appropriate staff each school day.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regularly regarding health findings and to update individual student medical information.
  • Maintain student confidentiality per HIPAA practices.
  • Provides care in a non-judgmental non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the students and familys diversity preserving their autonomy dignity and rights.
  • Collaborates with lead RN regarding all procedures and student medical needs
