ETHICON part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is recruiting a new college graduate for the Design Engineering track in Memphis TN. The role offers exposure to multi-disciplinary development such as medical device design manufacturing quality and product stability engineering throughout the product development process.

The Associate Design Engineer in Capital Equipment will be developing our next generation of capital collaboration with the team of seasoned engineers and mentors they will leverage innovative technology to deliver solutions to our customers.

Principal Duties:

  • Flexibly work various shifts in support of projects and organizational goals

  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in each of the Leadership Imperatives at an individual level and moderate capabilities at a leadership level

  • Recommend new processes or process improvements and lead implementation of prioritized assigned projects within the expected and agreed upon parameters (cost time etc.)

  • Support development and continuous improvement of standards

  • Support implementation and enhancements of systems

  • Benchmark industry practices and implement improvements as appropriate

  • Deploy systems and tools utilizing skills in database management such as Oracle SQL Plus and spreadsheet analysis to help the organization drive continuous improvement

  • Complete day-to-day operations in accordance with defined SOPs policies regulations and laws (i.e. SOX) and ensure reports and metrics align with company standards

  • Generate Review and Publish Reports and Metrics and develop new reports

  • Automate Manual Reporting procedures

  • Provide data insight and analytics

  • Perform quality and compliance related activities to drive customer satisfaction and adherence to regulations

  • Complete investigation and associated corrective or preventive actions for assigned nonconformances

  • Satisfy completion and certification of all applicable standard operating procedures safety material handling drug handling and any other required training as identified by Johnson & Johnson

Essential knowledge and skills:

  • Minimum of a Associates degree required; or Bachelors degree preferred.

  • Minimum of six (4) years related experience required

  • Demonstrated analytics experience with strong problem-solving interpretation and communication skills required

  • Direct Supply Chain experience and/or support of Supply Chain functions preferred

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of end to end supply chain preferred

  • Operations knowledge of WMS required with experience implementing WMS preferred

  • High level of proficiency required with MS Excel including pivot tables vLookups and macros

  • High level of proficiency preferred with MS PowerPoint to successfully display and articulate analytics

  • Experience utilizing MS Access for advanced analytics preferred

  • Experience with metric management software such as Tableau or Oracle SQL Plus preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems SAP and/or JDE preferred

  • Experience training and/or certifications in Lean Process Excellence and/or Project Management (e.g. Lean belt APICS PMI FPX/PMP etc.) preferred

  • Leadership or supervision experience is a plus

  • Medical Device and/or cross-sector experience or knowledge preferred

  • Customer-facing experience preferred

  • Flexibility to work various shifts in support of projects and organizational goals required

  • Position will require up to 30% domestic travel
