ASSISTANT HEAD (ACADEMIC) OF PRIMARY

We are seeking an exceptional classroom practitioner to join our leadership team as an Assistant Headteacher in a class-based role. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and reflective teacher who combines outstanding practice with the drive and vision to lead whole-school improvement in teaching and learning particularly within the core subjects. The successful candidate will be a visible role model of excellent pedagogy working closely with colleagues through coaching collaborative planning and professional dialogue to raise standards and strengthen consistency across the school. They will be passionate about developing others committed to continual improvement and motivated by the belief that great teaching has the greatest impact on pupil outcomes.

THE ROLE

This role will be a part of the SLT. The Assistant Head (Academic) will provide professional leadership in Maths and English. You will be expected to be an outstanding teacher and role model that promotes and supports the progress of all children to achieve the highest possible standards. You will be expected to support teachers and Middle leaders in ensuring that the curriculum is relevant consistent and progressive and best meets the needs of the children at The British School of Beijing Sanlitun. You will also liaise with subject leads to ensure links across the curriculum.

ABOUT YOU

You will have strong subject expertise in Maths and English underpinned by a secure understanding of the UK National Curriculum EYFS transition and evidence-based teaching approaches. You are expected to use assessment data strategically to monitor progress set targets and raise attainment while leading curriculum planning and implementation over the short medium and long addition you will provide effective leadership of staff through coaching performance management and professional development as well as confident engagement with parents and the development and review of academic policies.

You will possess a university degree a recognized teaching qualification and teaching experience. Committed and creative you will be reflective on your teaching and student outcomes seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the schools level of achievement.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for China including a Qualified Bachelor of Education or appropriate Degree with PGCE Qualified Teacher Status hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent from other countries. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils the willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training.
