Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care - Pediatric Surgery Trauma and Burn

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in General Pediatric Surgery Trauma and Burn provides advanced comprehensive and age-appropriate care to pediatric patients across the continuum of health and illness. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team the NP delivers high-level clinical care for surgical trauma and burn patients educates patients and families and manages acute and chronic conditions in accordance with institutional departmental and unit guidelines. The Nurse Practitioner is granted affiliate staff privileges by the Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical Board; these privileges list specific tasks and are reviewed annually.

Work Schedule:

This position is scheduled for three (3) shifts per week with one (1) 16-hour Friday night shift every fifth week. There are no weekend or holiday requirements for this position.

Education:

  • Masters Degree from and accredited School of Nursing.
  • Completion of accredited NP program in area of specialty: Pediatric - Acute Care.

Required Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Registered nurse licensure in the state of Maryland.
  • Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of Maryland.
  • If you order or refer items or services for Medicare beneficiaries and you do not have an enrollment record in the Provider Enrollment Chain and Ownership System(PECOS) you will need to submit an enrollment application to Medicare to be eligible for employment.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of Three (3) years of related clinical nursing experience.

Knowledge:

  • Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in pediatric acute care surgery trauma or burn specialty
  • Advanced research knowledge including interpretation utilization and application
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and general computer systems

Skills:

  • Ability to incorporate into practice theoretical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients families and interdisciplinary health care team members.
  • Analyticalability necessary to diagnose patients and to develop and implement plans of action for long and short term management of acute and chronic health.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team to enhance collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to provide information to patients and health care personnel.
  • Ability to funcion effectively in a fluid dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

Salary Range: Minimum 53.15/hour - Maximum 82.38/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
