Salary Range: $23.00-$27.50 per hour
SUMMARY
The Emergency Medical Technician will support Californias Medicaid 1115 JI Reentry Initiative by primarily managing the enrollment of eligible justice-involved individuals into a State-administered screening and enrollment program. This role has limited direct client interaction and focuses on administrative and technical responsibilities including entering and submitting enrollment data through the States Screening Portal transmitting required reports verifying successful enrollment completing corrections as needed and monitoring enrollment status to ensure accuracy and compliance. Working closely with clinical custody and program staff the EMT plays a key role in supporting continuity of Medi-Cal coverage and timely access to services for individuals transitioning from incarceration to the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Be responsible for the enrollment of clients into a state program including sending reports to the States portal ensuring enrollment completing any necessary corrections monitoring enrollment
- Provides for the comfort and safety of patients by performing patient care functions
- Manage a list of Medi-Cal eligible patients
- Interact and educate patients
- Timely documentation into databases
- Act as part of the interdisciplinary team
- Carries patients in stretchers and wheels patients in stretchers or wheelchairs.
- May be deployed as part of a triage team deliver equipment and supplies and/or may establish communications at health facilities as needed in case of major emergency or disaster.
- Checks and replenishes first aid kit emergency patient care equipment and linen supplies.
- Other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Demonstrated ability to implement clinical care in accordance with outlined policies and procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and prevention standard precautions. Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment. Ability to bend pull push and lift up to 50 pounds.
Education/Experience
- One year of experience at the level of EMT assisting patients in ambulance companies EMS provider agency hospitals and other medical facilities. E.R. experience preferred.
Certificates/Licenses/Clearances
- Must have current EMT Certification.
- Must have Current CPR certification.
- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
- Successfully clear the LA County Live Scan process.
- Successfully clear the Health Clearance
